Leveling in PrePatch Event?

Was excited to level some alts in PrePatch since the exp has been nice in the past but… Is there some secret to this? Or is it really just not great exp per hour and I’d be better off doing absolutely anything else to level?

They nerfed it to bits. Fun was detected.

You can go to the boss mob area and tag elites and that’s OK exp, but not great.

No fast leveling allowed. Gotta sell those boosts, why would they let you do it for free easily when they can make $$$

This… I’ve been on an off all day and I’ve gotten maybe 4 levels. I can do more questing and zero dungeons.

I have a feeling that there is a LOT of truth in this.

Nerfed and buggy. IMO, unless you have a fast group and can tag everything, it’s OK but I went from over 4k xp a few days back, to 2 or so thousand xp with the smaller mobs giving 800 or something. REALLY DIDN’T FEEL WORTH IT.

Same, I’ve been at it for a couple days and I’m 23. Wish I had started earlier because, as with so many things with Blizz, those who exploit early reap the rewards.

50-60 takes about an hour, maybe less. Levels were zoom zooming on the level 1 priest I took down there. Let my brother pull and hold aggro while I missed smites left and right and ding ding ding.

How much faster leveling do you want? It only takes a few hours. Throw on some heirlooms, the anniversary xp token and do classic dungeons till you run out of dungeon quest. Then switch to BC, then Wrath. If you haven’t reached at least 50 by then I don’t know what to tell ya. 50-60 is a breeze now.

It was more of a change of scenery than anything. But the nerfs make it not worth it.

Did they nerf it today? I was just down there and hour ago.

Not sure how you’re zoom a zoom zooming… On a level 23 I’m getting maybe 500 per kill for one of the bigger elementals, 200+ on a mob… I can get about 3/4 of a level for a full clear to the boss. Not sure how you’re doing 10 levels in an hour. Not to be mean but I call shenanigans.

50-60 in an hour is easy bc they did a massive squish on the xp needed for each level for the pre-patch. Pair that with the anniversary xp token and it does indeed go by quickly. On my lower level toon we went to an area where there weren’t as many ppl to compete with.

Also (and I’m not sure this is still a thing) but it used to be that the smaller the group you were in the more xp shared between party members. So those in a raid group would get significantly less per kill than say just 2 ppl.

This may be part of my issue then. I was in a raid group. I will test again in a smaller group or solo.

I wasn’t in a group… and am leveling a monk tank. With the spinning crane there are very few mobs that go gray on me… I’m using the anniversary boost. But I’ve been in zone from the start of the mobs to the boss and got maybe a level for all that work. I can seriously level faster through questing.

My monk.

Not sure then. My experience was different. Same with the person I was running with, he set a timer at the start (lvl 50) and stopped it when he hit 60. He wanted to see how long it would take. It was roughly an hour. We also have a theory that the first few levels go by quicker and then slow down the longer you are in the invasion area, who knows if that is even possible. The pre-patch is also super buggy. :person_shrugging:

honestly idk why everyone else is saying its bad I leveled 2 alts in less than an hour each, it was great I know I wouldn’t have gotten them to max level if it hadn’t had been for this, so quick, so easy, like having your cake & eating it too :grinning:

yes, I also found that as well. I was solo on my holy priest and the exp did vary due to the amount of ppl that would tag a mob I was getting between 1400+ exp to 2000+ exp for each mob

Go follow Harldan’s route:

He actually was streaming today and mentioned that the EXP per hour is FAR better in his route than with the pre-patch event.

Such a weird little interaction and not necessary at all lol
