Leveling in dungeons is terrible

So you want to level some alts doing dungeons?

You want to get a feel for X or Y class?

Maybe you just want to play your class in group content and do dungeons, play some healers?

Well, every single dungeon you go into that is not a high-end mythic, you’re gonna get an over-geared lvl 70 pulling the whole thing, without stopping, killing everything before you can even cast anything non-instant.

You wanted to heal? Lol absolutely no need.
Wanna try out your build or compare talents? Lol no, everything is dead or moved out of LoS.

God help you if the tank loses aggro on one of the 100 moba he’s pulling because the healer won’t even look at you.

What exactly are these OP lvl 70s doing in normal queues anyway? What do they get? Why not go into harder content?

I’m sure a bunch of people are perfectly happy being carried and not doing anything at all, but it’s honestly boring AF.

I have no idea what the mechanics are for several fights because the bosses die in 5 seconds.

And I honestly don’t see the point of doing them anymore if I’m just gonna run behind a pack of mobs from boss to boss every single time.

And yeah yeah, “make your own group”, I’ve heard that one.

Rant over, thanks!

LOL this is not about Remix…

I just realized, my bad. One of those days.

Follower dungeons.
Harder dungeons
Target dummies

I mean… If it isn’t about remix then it doesn’t make sense, level 70s aren’t able to queue into anything but 60-70 dungeons or heroics, so I don’t see how he could be seeing bosses that die in 5 seconds and op level 70s in every dungeon from 10-70.

He’s definitely talking about the 60-70 bracket of Dragonflight Normal dungeons.
It’s a problem every expansion – people decked out in high end M+/Raid gear are running Heroics either for the satchel or to help a friend level or whatever other reason and they overpower what the dungeons are tuned for by such a degree that no one else is necessary, which makes it a worthless experience for getting the feel for a spec or talent build for anyone actually geared to the appropriate level for the content.

It’s a problem at the low levels due to scaling (and twinks, if you do WoD), it’s a problem at the high end due to queued content not capping ilvl at any point.

It really should. Like, whatever the place drops +15 or 20 ilvl should be plenty.
Walking in manually would bypass the cap.

Queued Content should largely play as intended and I wish Blizzard would do more to ensure that happened. If people want to do crazy things, they can be the ones to make their own groups.

Even if I’m wrong and this IS about Remix (he doesn’t really say), this is still a real problem that constantly occurs.

It really shouldn’t, having your gear downleveled would be bad. It’s an MMO, you gear up from doing harder content to make your character stronger, arbitrarily being leveled down would be a very poor change.

This was always a thing. :dracthyr_comfy_sip: Especially in the final weeks of an expac.

Yeah, it sounded very similar to what folks are talking about in Remix at the moment, so I jumped the gun a bit.

Give players a warning when the queue that their ilvl will be scaled down to [ x ]. They can choose to do that or go do it manually instead to avoid it.

Either that or don’t have power scaling go so insane that someone can easily solo content from the same expansion when it’s meant for 5 people.

But that’s not going to happen, Blizzard recently made the gap even BIGGER than it used to be.

Yeah, you gear up from harder content to do harder content.

You’ve never played FFXIV, right?

You never see this happening because everyone gets scaled in lower content so everyone can play as intended, and the high-end players that queue for lower content do so willingly because the rewards are good and worth the time.

If they don’t want to get scaled down, they just avoid said content. But again, they don’t, because the game makes sure they have reasons to queue for this lower level content.

Good more runs for me…more chances of getting gear

which feels terrible when half your abilities stop working. Absolutely not something that should be replicated here in the slightest.

Or they can not do that because it’s a horrible change to implement and will drive people to never engage with normal dungeons because they are going to be tuned to be slower than doing a M0 or +2 with a good group. I’m sure it won’t happen either but there is a reason that they don’t scale raids and dungeons with item level, they tried it in Tomb and the interns saw it was a disaster when they blundered that again in remix.

I don’t recall the latest on follower dungeons, but I would really like to see those expanded to the full leveling experience.

I’m sure that they will be, with Dragonflight being the new default leveling experience and having follower dungeons already.

Though it is actually still a bit of a problem in FFXIV - like most players haven’t heard all of the last boss of Shadowbringers MSQ’s monologue because it dies too quickly.

I wouldn’t mind having all my abilities there, either, but the ilvl squish is generally a good idea.

because of the ilvl jump a LOT of them are in there because they are effectively shut out of heorics for the time being unti they gear up, look forward to more of this in tww since its the direction blizzard is heading.

Who tries their build out in a heroic/normal dungeon? that’s silly

It’s even worse in Remix. Before I loaded in and grabbed the quests for the dungeon I had a VDH go so fast he killed 2 bosses already. First time it was the brewery by killing the Rabbit carrot boss that locks the door. 3 people just stood there. Total time in dungeon was 30s.

Test your build in follower dungeons. Best way to learn boss mechanics.
