Leveling in Darkshore

I didn’t think I’d enjoy leveling in darkshore as much as I have. I thought as soon as I hit level 15 I’m HIGHTAILING it to westfall. Then as you start questing in the area I found the quests are interesting. Killing ghosts and corrupted bears etc etc. The terrain and feel of the woods is close to the same feels as you would trekking through the woods here in louisiana on a gloomy day. It feels quite like home to me. I imagine it not feeling like duskwallow, where the bugs, spiders, and crocs are out to get ya but a cold, wet, wintery breeze flowing through the air from the sea. The music and ambience give you an eerie feeling of spiritual uneasiness. You are no longer under the protection of Teldrassil here, and it’s stressful. You feel a weight on your shoulders and you feel alone. However I was eager to unlock the mysteries of the forest.

As far as the xp there’s tons of quests, and farming for leather was easy. I quickly outleveled the quests available to me. To my surprise the land was huge in spite of what was represented on the world map. If you wanna go big boy try it out. If you want to stay in babyville go level in the eastern kingdoms plebs =P.

Old Darkshore is my favorite of the 10-20 Alliance zones.

I love Darkshore and Ashenvale. I’ve pretty much completely leveled to 30 in Kalimdor. I can’t stand Westfall.

I stayed in darkshore from 11-20. Westfall close to release date might as well have been New York City it was so damn crowded. I spent hours there running in circles trying to tag mobs and wait for respawns.

Damn, I’m all for taking in the sights, but you’re getting real aggro over other people’s choice of preferred scenery there chief.

I have avoided Westfall (& SW area) with all my various characters in Classic after trying it on one early on, but find Darkshore & Ashenvale a pleasant place to quest in at those levels. The areas around Stormwind & such tend to be a chaotic madhouse - E Forest, Westfall, Redridge & Duskwood. It probably has calmed down some since release, however.
