Hello everyone, I was just curious to see if anyone had info about leveling in a different starting zone (example: a lvl 1 undead, starting quests in the orc or tauren zone). Is it possible?
Its possible but u should pick a class that orcs can play in that case, or you may end up not beeing able to learn spells until orgrimmar, due to the lack of a trainer for that class.
i'd quest till like 5 first. you get the quest to go to your class trainer and stuff like that. it also helps leaving the zone.
you can easily get level 5 in 15 minutes then go to the orc level 1 spot and complete those quests and then you'll be slightly higher level throughout the questing for a few levels.

There's nothing stopping you from doing that. You'll most likely gain a few levels just running there though from exploration xp. I'd still suggest clearing the very first small starting area first (up to level 5), since you will have at least once class quest there to send you get your first training, and that's xp.
Keep in mind that Tauren, for instance, don't have any cloth class, so itemization for any priest, warlock or mage may be sparse. And there's the problem of trainers too.

Yeah, Blizzard did a good job of balancing the nodes for the gathering professions. And in some cases, you would have a long and perilous journey.
Even in the standard racial starting areas; even on PvE servers, the walks between regions could be dangerous.
I got my first taste of PvP at lvl 18, when a lvl 26 dwarf Huntard decided to try to ambush my group of three tweenagers walking up to Silverpine.
(Speaking of kids and class balances, I remember plenty of group and dungeon and Raid behavior that earned the Hunter class the appellation Huntard. What was going on in Vanilla with so many kids and senselessly arrogant people rolling Hunters?)
I seem to remember a Forsaken quest that sent me to Ogrimmar, that was fairly low-level, to run the Chasm dungeon there. I remember an Orc player who even named his toon Orcgasm.

Horde side, the easiest would be Orc/Troll to Undead or vice versa.03/08/2018 05:15 AMPosted by QthulhuEven in the standard racial starting areas; even on PvE servers, the walks between regions could be dangerous.
But getting to or coming from the Tauren area automatically implies a long and dangerous jogging through the Barrens.
Alliance side, between dwarf/gnome and human there's the tramway, but to get to or from the elf zone, there's also a perilous trek through wetlands up the mountains involved. There's also the option of the loooooooong swim from Menethil to SW or vice versa, very boring but doable if you stick to the cliffs.

Did this all the time back in the day. I really liked once race, but really liked a different starting zone.
The posts before mine are relevant, though. You may miss something (quest/training, etc.) by doing this, but it's minor and you can usually find a work around.
Usually requires a decent journey through dangerous land, which is a fond memory, so though you may do some corpse runs, it's fun.

I wouldn't take a level 1 and try to run to another starting zone, the first few levels in your starting zone will go pretty fast and yeah you might not have all the class trainers in other areas. I don't think all the capital cities even had all the class trainers so there's certainly a good reason to stay close to home early on while you're getting new stuff relatively quickly.
I often will run and do the other newbie areas on my characters. Great way to keep ahead of the quest droughts that can crop up. Also it is a great way to earn rep with the different factions.
A bit off topic but don't think of dying b4 you experience a trip to darnassus as a lvl 10 horde hunter to tame an owl.
Piddy here left the snowy realms of Dun Morogh for the nature rich forests of Teldrassil. As soon as she finished Cold Valley, she made the run to Menethil and hopped on the boat to adventure. And, yes, there are (were?) no Warlock trainers in Darnasuss.
But it was no big deal. She simply didn't train. Just played through the content.
She had to go back to Stormwind at 10 to get her Voidwalker. I think she may have gone back and quested in Darkshore and maybe Ashenvale, but she definitely came back to Duskwood.

Those death runs from Menethil to IF and vise versa.

I did that back in the day. :) I thought I did pretty good on my first run when I only died four times in wetlands. The rest was easy.
I used to try this all the time, however there are some race restricted quests, its better to move over around level 5. For example if you are a Dwarf finish Coldridge Valley first then go to Goldshire, you won't find much in Northshire, maby 1 quest.

Northshire, a dwarf can do the entire quest line. You just might not see the initial ! over the guy's head because it might be grey to you.
Yes back in 2004 Snowfire did the Human starting area, the Dwarf starting area and the Night Elf Starting area.
Before heading back to do Westlands, Redridge and Duskwood.
You can still do that today.
Plus many individuals would use to create a new Level 1 character and go on a Hogger run.

old thread but since no one mentioned it my trick for doing this is to travel dead, and Rez up at the graveyard of your desired starting zone, since you're likely to die on the journey anyway and this way you won't have to worry about avoiding any mobs or players, and obv a bonus if you're a night elf, but why you would wanna leave teldrasil is beyond me lol
i think it's possible in many cases, but i've heard horror stories about druids in particular running to other starter zones and training being a pain. if you were a warrior or a tauren shaman and ran to durotar, i'm sure you'd be fine.

RE: huntard moniker. The hunters had some innately infuriating mechanics, as well as more than a few self sabotaging ones ( lay ice trap, get cc, pet breaks cc next tick). The class was a fun fantasy but the design made them hard to pilot and greedy by necessity.
It wasnt just restricted to them though. Be prepared for warriors to roll on vuns if theyy stam on it, for instance.
