Hello all!
This is my first time playing a hunter in WoW classic. I have been leveling my character nicely with the buff, but my pet is starting to fall behind. I was curious what the best way to be to catch him up to my level? Will they still get experience if the mob is grey to me? Or is there another tactic hunters use?
Thanks!
I wonder if there is a bug that pets don’t get the XP buff?

That would explain a lot!
Welcome to being a hunter. Pets will fall behind a bit due to the buff but luckily not too much. The xp it takes for them to level vs yourself is about a quarter so catch up is quick.
Grey mobs do not give your pet xp. This is true whether it’s their level or not, if it’s grey to you it’s no XP. Using this knowledge green mobs are the minimum to receive XP. Most of us just run an easy dungeon a couple times and it usually maxes the pet out. In phase 1 it was stockades, P2 it’s scarlet monestary. Hopefully this helps.

Unfortunately with the exp increase, pets got left behind on it. Fastest way to lvl up pets as ive seen is via dungeons. No other way around it.

Thank you! That does help.
Not a bug, this is always how Pet XP worked.
They need 1/4 of player exp per level, and never benefit from buffs to player XP.
