Leveling "experiment"

I started this character because I’ve never really given warrior a serious try and figured it might be fun to try something new in DF.

I started in Exile’s Reach (my first time through it, which was fun) and went straight to BFA. I’ve been leveling there. I’m now at level 54, having decided to try to level to 60 without SL. I just went through SL with all my alts, I don’t want to level through it again.

I’ve got all my other characters chipping in for Korthian/Broker gear, just as I had them get Benthic gear, so that when I hit 60 I won’t be completely outgeared for DF.

Questing XP is getting a little thin in BFA zones, but I’ve just started doing Archeology and that’s helping. What other options do I have to get through the next 6 levels without going to SL?

Do island expeditions still give xp? Maybe could get someone to run you through a few dozen times.

I did this on my mage. Archaeology is your best bet. Gathering professions would probably help. My mage didn’t have any. The most important thing you will need is a lot of patience. Relax and have fun, and try not to pay attention to the xp bar too much. Good luck! :alien:

Herbalism and Mining.

On the 15th Chromie time gets extended from 50 to 60, so you can level in any zone. I’d just wait.

Personally I’m leveling alts to around 40-50 and parking them until the real prepatch.

Anything you do is going to take 15 times longer than just doing threads of fate

Not true, threads of fate takes infinitely longer, since I will literally kill myself if I have to level through Shadowlands again.

I would rather beat myself around the head and neck with a brick than do Threads again.

I don’t mind the time, it’s not like I’ve got a whole lot else going on before DF. I just want to make sure I’m exploring all my non-SL XP earning options.

You can do that? I didn’t think SL was going to be added to Chromie Time yet.

Yeah, you just… don’t leave BFA when you hit 50, and keep leveling there.

It’s slower, because as you level higher you get less XP from quests, but it can be done. You just need to make sure you’re getting every last XP that you can from all sources.

Hm. For some reason I thought the game yeeted you out of Chromie Time whenever you hit level 50 and forced you into the Shadowlands.

It seems to only do that if you’re in an alternate timeline. If you go the BFA route you get the pop-up to talk to Bolvar at 48 but you can just stay in BFA.

You can:

  1. Wait until next week and then do MoP timewalking dungeons until you reach 60

  2. Wait until the week after that and do Chromie Time

  3. Do battlegrounds

  4. Find someone leveling an alt in Chromie Time and party sync with them (I’ve only done this with my 2nd account so idk what the specific rules are for doing it with another player)

It normally does. But if you level Exile’s Reach then BFA, you’re not in Chromie Time. That’s just… regular pre-SL leveling from 1-50.

If I had gone into Chromie Time to select one of the other expansions, you’d be spot-on.

Mining, herbalism and pet battles.

Edit to add: I might try this for poops and giggles, too!

I guess that makes sense. I’ve never actually tried leveling a new character and taking the default leveling route that Blizzard would have you do.

It’s actually been very fun. Exile’s Reach is a cool little zone… granted it’s totally tailored to new players and walks you through everything you already know. But… that’s part of it, and why existing players probably would Chromie Time to level.

But you get a unique tabard, and some unique bags, and I think some unique transmog options, which is cool. And you get to queue for a starter dungeon which is filled with NPCs if there aren’t enough players in the zone. Which is also cool.

That it do my man. Chromie leveling my butt in other zones, hit lvl 50 and the girl show up to pull me out of the fray, I get teleported and next I know I’m the one makin’ sandwiches in the afterlife.

Level 55. Only five more to go, and I have all of the BFA quests except for Tiragarde Sound and Drustvar to go. But the zones have gone gray now (they were green), so I suspect these last five levels are going to be a grind.

But won’t you eventually hit a point where XP gains are not existent? Around 56
