I am not a speed leveler by any means, I enjoy taking my time but this is basically what I do.

Level in my generic place from 1-10, then move over to another areas 5-10 leveling area. So if I am a dwarf once I am done with dun morogh I go to elwynn and clear all that content. Normally you are like 12-13 so I then do some of westfall, then go to loch modan, then back to westfall and finish, then back to loch and finish. Then I go to redridge and do quests up to the elites then I go to wetlands and do most of those quests. If I find a group for the elite quests I knock them all out and then move onto duskwood. Generally you are always on green/yellow quests and you never run out of quests to do so 1-30 is a breeze. Honestly just do all the zones you can without quests turning grey and avoid forcing the higher level quests.

It depends a little on what race you start as. If you are a night elf, it is a bit different than if you are a dwarf/human/gnome. Either way, I think the quest texts give you a good path if you choose to read them!

Depends on how you want to play, i’m going a night elf warrior for like the 6th…? Time, but 1-30 i do it like this.

50% i level in the night elf zone, 50% of the times i don’t.

Always go elywin forest, and do atleast hogger the pants are worth it, and book it to westfall at about 12,

If i don’t get about 16 from westfall alone, i go right into Loch, and that’s easy enough to get me 18 and 20 if i stay for the elites. ( I grind a lot and level with a buddie, mind you.)

by that time i double back to westfall do deadmines, and start redridge by 19-22 (Once i got like 23 and didn’t do a single quest there.) By the time redridge is done, i’m at min 25 / 26, at that point. Duskwood is the best hands down, but wetlands isn’t to bad.

Personally i always make a run to southshore, (I play warrior, also i normallly meet a pally so guess he’s tankin a SFK…) Also, it’s a good idea just to get the FP in Arathi, for first-aid book AB queing. Patterns, and the Stockades quest you need to do a elite chain for north of wetlands,

Also always do some quest in Ashenvale for fulborg Rod, nothing beats that. Whirlwind axe and just a bear in a Breeze clothing charging at you scared many of horde.

But once you hit 30, STV is great southshore has a few quest, then hit desolace arathi, if you’re not big on PVP STV is the best 30-39/40, But if you don’t want that pvp, the above of what i said it the best.

If you want a list that isn’t just spam, replay to me on what you want.

1-5 Northshire Abbey
5-11 Elwynn Forest
11-14 Westfall
14-16 Loch Modan
16-18 Westfall
18-19 Redridge
Deadmines
19-21 Redridge
21-23 Wetlands
Shadowfang Keep - (lots of Paladins run this for their quest; nothing else for Allies except gear.)
23-25 Redridge Elites / Wetlands Elites
Stockades
Blackfathom Deeps
25-27 Duskwood
27-29 Hillsbrad Foothills
29-33 Duskwood Elites / 2nd Phase Hillsbrad pre-Alterac
33-35 Desolace
Scarlet Monestary - (Library + Armory)
35-37 Thousand Needles
Scarlet Monestary / Razorfen Downs
37-40 Arathi Highlands
Uldaman
40-43 Stranglethorn Vale
43-45 Badlands
45-46 Feralas
46-47 Tanaris
Zul’farrak
Maraudon
47-48 Hinterlands
48-51 Felwood
Sunken Temple
51-52 Blasted Lands
52-54 Un’goro Crater
54-56 Winterspring
Dire Maul East
56-57 Western Plaguelands
Blackrock Depths
57-60 Eastern Plaguelands
Lower Blackrock Spire
The good stuff; Upper Blackrock Spire, Stratholme, Scholomance, Dire Maul West, Dire Maul North

This is my general approach on Alliance-side. If you want to go faster, you grind more and travel less.

A general rule of thumb is at lower levels, like 1 to 29, questing supplemented by grinding is more efficient. At mid levels, grinding supplemented by questing, from 30-50, is more efficient. And at the end questing and dungeon questing specifically, supplemented by grinding, is more efficient.

You can break up the monotony and also go to other areas like Silithus, or Burning Steppes, or whatever floats your boat. I leveled quite a few Alliance toons this way to 60. Sometimes I take different paths and choose to travel more. Sometimes I focus on professions. Sometimes I like to PvP more. Regardless, you should never be out of quests at any interval. If you are, it’s because you are skipping quests earlier that are green or not grinding enough, or running dungeons.

My fastest play time to 60 was on my Paladin, over my bevy of Rogues and Warriors, just because I did Scarlet Monestary Armory and Cathedral maybe 15 runs total together. I also did 4 Uldaman runs and around 5 or 6 Maraudon Princess runs all for some drops to ease the leveling process. It took me about 8 days 19 hours.

Supplement whatever zones and paths you enjoy or whatever. This is the route I take even if I’m Dwarf or Night Elf. I always suck it up and travel right after hitting level 5 in the starting zones and go get flight points along the way.

There are tons of elite quests that will take you all over as well. I enjoy doing those over grinding, unless I am short on mount gold before I hit 40.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Unless you play a night elf like many of us did … doing barely more than the 1-6 quests, then starting the long run that included many a crocolisk death, just to level in Elwynn Forest instead of Teldrassil. (I usually went back for things like the Darkshore fishing quest, and even my non-elfs made the run back that way for the same reason.)

True, the only night elf I leveled was a late in the expansion rogue that I could make a level 29 twink, and by that time I had friends enough to get a warlock to summon me to Stormwind! But agreed, the long runs trying to stay on roads were always memorable!

You’re better off doing quest hubs that are a level or so below you, more quests/hour.

No matter the race, I always made sure I hit Redridge Mountains. Loved that zone

I wasn’t into doing the run of death across Wetlands and just leveled characters where they could easily go.

Night elves quested through Darkshore (been a long time since anyone has seen that) and Ashenvale (which is high enough level that you could go through Wetlands without issue).

Also, you get the Light of Elune in Ashenvale, which is still sitting in my bank. (It goes to progression raids for high stakes progression, but I’ve never hit a “oh, if I use that, it will result in a kill” - probably because I play a healer who heals on for a bit after she dies.)

There is something RP appropriate about following your races’s questing path. Clear your zone, watch general for people looking for one more for a dungeon group if you have quests for one in your zone, then look at your “go to” quests for a new zone.

Follow the path the questing takes you.
