Leveling a Warrior should be more fun

I don’t care if my class is the strongest in PVP or PVE. I just want it to be fun to play and that includes while leveling.

The problem is that Blizzard nerfed the runes that made playing a DPS warrior fun at level 25 to the point that it doesn’t make sense to use them anymore and the playstyle with the runes that now make the most sense to use simply isn’t any fun until you have all your level 40 tools.

I enjoyed the synergy of consumed by rage, quick strike, and raging blow. You pool your rage to get the buff, spam quick strike and do a little damage dumping your rage below 80, and use raging blow whenever you can. It felt interesting and dynamic and you always had buttons to push that felt meaningful. All of these runes got significant nerfs in preparation for phase 2. Consumed by Rage’s damage buff was cut in half, Quick Strike no longer does any significant damage, and Raging Blow went from 100% weapon damage to 80% weapon damage. I feel like this was done because they want to switch up the best playstyle for phase 2.

I’m fine with that, but the new playstyle isn’t fun while leveling because you do not have the tools to make it enjoyable. Slam is now the main button you have to hit during a fight, but the rune that makes it instant with a 6 second CD requires you to kill level 43 elites. Mortal Strike and Whirlwind would be fun and rewarding buttons to hit, but you don’t get Whirlwind until level 36 and you don’t get Mortal Strike until level 40.

This means about the only thing to do with your rage is Heroic Strike (which doesn’t happen until your next autoswing) and hard cast Slam (hoping the mob doesn’t move on you and suffering pushback as you get hit). There really is no way to hit a button and get instant damage unless the mob dodges and you can an Overpower in.

This gameplay gets the job done ok, but it isn’t satisfying or enjoyable. Why does it seem like there is no real thought put into making the gameplay fun while we are leveling?

Agreed. The gameplay loop of cbr/raging blow was fun maybe it needed a nerf who knows. But it basically just does not exist now it’s so bad. Goes for the nerfing of any rune for any class. Now we just take lame passive damage/attack speed increases that don’t change gameplay whatsoever

It wouldn’t even bother me if it weren’t for the fact that these runes become the best to use before we even have more buttons to push.

They should have added the Rend procs Overpower rune for bracers that was datamined, instead of holding off on it.

This goes against warrior lore though. They are supposed to suffer and then become gods in the end.

Careful, the warrior hate is strong around these parts.

Thought this was a new game. If that’s their intention, giving us this many %damage increases will do the trick

Ok does anyone think warriors and druids should be anything more than punching bags for pvp? No. Didnt think so. Stay in your place, short arms.

I 100% agree. Rend isn’t even worth hitting right now and that rune would have definitely fixed that, though I’m guessing it would have been another one that requires you to be max level and/or be carried through the process of getting it like the precise timing rune, which wouldn’t have helped the leveling process at all.

I’m not even talking about our relative power though. I wouldn’t mind being behind in DPS if it were actually fun to play.
