I don’t play private servers, so I don’t recall just how much different things were from way back then, but would it be better to level a resto shaman spending talent points in resto, or try leveling as elemental or enhancement and then switching closer to the end game?
I love restoration and am excited to heal again in classic, but I remember leveling as restoration being much slower. Any advice?
Note: I also love PvP servers, and so I’m rolling on a PvP server. I don’t want to be completely useless if I get ganked.
Resto is really only for raiding in classic as I recall.
Most of the meat and potatoes of the spec you can do with 30 points in elemental. You just need mana tide for raids.
No point going resto until 60. Go enhancement and just carry an intellect set for healing.
I wouldn’t go full resto as the others said. But a hybrid build can work well IMO.
While leveling there are talents in all 3 trees that can be helpful. Take more or less resto depending on how much you want to group.
If you are on a pvp server you want to be ele/resto. If you are just resto you wont have a chance to win a fight in wpvp

that only depends whether you prefer to do melee or ranged dmg
Tanking and Healing specs are for raiding. Consider playing Elemental or Enhancement for leveling and healing dungeons.
Ranged is generally better in wpvp.
In my opinion ele is better. Enh is highly vulnerable to being kited.Ele is the true pvp spec.
Enhance suffers like most melee…so gear dependent but it is a fun leveling spec
Yeah it’s fun and you will most likely one or two shot people with corpsemaker and decent gear at low levels as enchancement .I think it’s better off leveling as ele so you can get used to kiting and distance management along e your totems for PVP . Ele after 40 is a beast with elemental mastery .
I was a newbie trying (solo)leveling as holy priest in TBC. Its was horrible. I have to drink almost every mob pull.
Like everyone else said. You can level as enhance or elemental and have a healing gear set in you bag and heal dungeon just fine.
