Leveling a resto druid pros and cons?

I’m changing it up from priest but I never see resto druids heal well I’m doing it a lot cause my buddy I play with is rogue and with TBC coming a druid and rogue will be crazy in arena which he loves and is crazy at. What do I have to look forward too as a healing druid do we get anything cool and unique like Benedict staff priest get. I’ve seen the naxx gear not nearly as good as priest naxx but I can get past that. In raids I’m lucky my buddy is our raid lead I’m worried I’ll never be a good healer compared to priests

Resto druid is pretty trash in Classic tbh. Both boring & bad, and nobody really needs more than 1.

I mean, okay its better than Era since buff cap is gone… but still.

You are a MOTW bot. Thats it.

Press your MOTW button, Innervate a mage, and Brez a DPS that dies. Maybe a decurse here and there.

Thats your entire gameplay… Personally I find druid overall to be really awful in Classic… but they get a HUGE makeover come TBC and they become super fun… all the specs

Just my opinion.

Really glad to hear about TBC that’s what I care most about for this leveling, there’s only less than a year till then so I have time for 60 and some gear, I’m happy I’ll have the one raid spot for my guild at least

Like 6 months . Maybe even less.

January of 2026 Id imagine TBC launches.

You level as feral not resto.

TBC comes out in Nov.

Druid resto is pretty good in TBC and great in Wrath.

Priest is just a god always.

No I don’t think you get any cool legendaries as druid.

I mean you can equip Atiesh and Val’anyr but you probably won’t get them over a priest.

I figured as much for atesh but it’s also fair. I’m mostly looking forward to pvping in TBC and at least seeing the raids never got too previously, missed the last classic set and in era I stopped after bwl. Want to see and kill naxx at least once before nov. I am glad to hear it just keeps getting better, I’m tired of priest healing I do always do great overall but just always been priest

GET HYPED-4-TBC, RESTO DRUID P-V-P !

So they are ok healers and have a decent tool kit they just don’t shine in anything. However you can be impactful by playing it to the fullest by properly decursing, innervating, abolish poison, motw, and knowing your healing rotation while having that brez ready.

There is just room for one so don’t be a sub par one, make it count. While not a super star you will be a valued addition.

I dont think they’re very fun in classic vanilla. The HoTs feel weak, mana intensive, and do not stack with other druid HoTs. You dont have any AoE heals besides Tranquility. You’re basically just using Healing Touch and your utility (decurse, brez, innervate, etc). Its pretty lame tbh. In pvp its even worse because they dont have enough burst healing to keep people up without resilience (tbc and beyond), your actual casted heals are slow, and they are super squishy if caught in caster or cat form and can be 100-0 in a kidney shot.

TBC improves a lot, especially in the PvP department. Personally Im still not a fan of them in PvE until WOTLK, but they’re definitely improved over vanilla.

I much prefer Priest healing especially in PvP. Id play DP/Rogue over RDruid/Rogue any day of the week, especially in Season 1.

In original TBC druids were the best healers in T5 - they got nerfed for t6/7 (the classic version). Druids are still good healers for TBC - and great in arenas.

With dual spec in anniversary at lvl 40 you’d be best levelling as feral from 20+ and buying dual spec at 40.

resto druids are a lot of fun
they’re only “bad” in raids, due to HoTs not being able to stack
but in dungeons this obviously isn’t an issue :expressionless:

Things to look forward to as a druid come tbc

Flight form at 68, solid pick for pvp content, after completing the epic flight form chain-being the only class able to summon Anzu which drops a rare mount (easier to get mount or sell summon to people wanting mount) great tank option, great heal option.

As a resto-druid main?

Pros:

  1. Dungeon spamming is relatively easy to find.

  2. Travel form is advantageous for leveling.

  3. You will be dominant in TBC, so it’s worth the struggle.

CONS:

  1. OOM pretty quickly in late-game

  2. You have a rez on cool-down.

  3. Questing is a huge strain to do as resto, even if you dual-spec into Moonkin to save up bag space on gear. I went Moonkin as my secondary spec so I don’t have to loot-hoard leather gear or concern myself with bag space, stacking int/spirit with one set… isn’t even worth it, 90% of the time.

this is a good thing :expressionless: trust me, being on raid rez duty is annoying
plus doing a clutch battle rez feels great

True, but it’s terrible when someone in your dungeon dies, twice, before the CD is up. Too many warriors that don’t know how to tank or mitigate damage on this server.

People saying TBC in november are delulu.

Anyway, Rdruid is the “worst” healer in Classic but its still decent. Its just not as broken as Rsham (Raid Healing or tank healing with 8P T1) or Priest (Tank healing, or raid healing+fear ward on Ally.).

I think they have an easier time getting spots on ally too (feel free to confirm or deny this if you’re ally) because Rshams don’t exist.

Bottom line you’re still a healer. Most pugs will still want you outside super niche scenarios and you’re the only healer who can also double as an effective tank (rip Prot Pal) if you put the work into it meaning the chances that you end up twiddling your thumbs in SW as a Druid are minimal despite the fact none of your spec are “S-tier”.

Better off playing disc rogue than rdruid rogue.

Rdruid lock / warrior is the play for 2s.

As far as classic right now, druids are the worst healer, but you can still easily out heal any other healer who doesnt consume during boss fights.

There are not many fights with decursing outside of like 3 rn. So decurse bot is a thing but you will be healing alot.

With the removal of buff cap, many tanks wont auto remove hots. So hot spamming is a thing now. Healing touch is still good.

I play regrowth spec on my druid cause i like the meme healer parses. But come aq ill go rejuv spec.

Wont catch me spamming healing touch unless im low on mana.

Resto druids also should not be giving their innervates to anyone but other healers or themselves in classic. Will change to mages in tbc though.
