Level squish = item level + stat squish?

So, obviously Blizzard has decided to move forward with a level squish, which I do believe can be beneficial for the long term health of the game. Now with it, what do we think about receiving another item level and stat squish being pushed out with it?

I figure if all content is going to be viable from 10-50 at this point, would it not make sense to line up all of the numbers for all prior expansions so that
1.) No expac is any more OP than the rest to level through
2.) We no longer need to worry about staggering power between the base game and 7 different expansions (8 including Shadowlands)?

We could even do something as simple as maybe refer to WoW classic-esque numbers.

The only issue with this I could imagine is that an immediate squish like this would hypothetically invalidate the BFA gear that we’ve all acquired even faster. Things like out high ilvl mythic+ and mythic raiding gear.

I’m sure blizzard already has something like this in the pipelines to happen anyways.

Thoughts?

That’s the way they’re talking. The premise is that you can go to any expac and level 10-50.

I’m really curious how they’re going to cram 50 levels in to Cata which was a 5 level expansion, but I guess it just doesn’t matter.

I envision the entire zones being scaled. You can do any quest, any zone, anytime, you’ll just grind your way through them. But each expansion, in theory, has enough questing and XP to get you from 10 to 50.

It’s curious that new players are forced through BfA.

And it’s also curious that all of the world and old expansions will be scaled, but not the new one.

Well, the way I’ve seen and heard it described is that the reason they want to direct new players through BFA first is because it will more closely push them into the current endgame story. Ion did talk about how many players feel that endgame is the most important part of nearly any MMO, and that’s why they decided to push new accounts through only the newest content, because much of it is so dated and irrelevant so to speak for the current in game storyline.

Nope, no stat squish and no item level squish. Just a level squish. They put base level characters at 350ilvl for their demo and they said there will not be a stat squish.

About time we start hitting in the millions again tbh. Stat squish sucks lol

I think there is a lot to still be learned about this, because there obviously has to be some sophisticated way to allow players who choose TBC to come out at the same power level as those who chose BFA.

I’m interested in seeing what leveling gear in general looks like, and how it will work once you leave leveling.

They are calling it “outdoor timewalking” likely meaning our everything scales down, but what happens when you are done 10-50 through Classic?
What gear are you in at that point?

Is it just scaled up versions of old rewards?
If so, how wont there be imbalanced trinkets etc?

If its not, how wont you come out and just get crushed in 9.0 zones?

That makes a lot of sense.

It seems like all zones and expansions will be dropping gear that scales to our level .

So if you get a piece of gear in classic. Wod. Or wrath at level 40, id imagine its the same exact item level .

Only way that mechanism really works is tl have all gear in the game scale to you when it drops

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the players that like/wanted/enjoy the level scaling they added years ago, plus the purchase of levels. Now a level squish is so beyond me I have no clue why anyone plays retail. Is this a cultural thing of instant gratification?
