After a stressful day at work, I often enjoy loading up one of my level 120 characters and stomping through old content, maybe farming for a pet, xmog, or etc. In Shadowlands, if level 120 becomes 50, which is the “max level” for all old content (such as Molten Core, Black Temple, Naxxramas, etc) how hard is it going to be to go stomping around in that content once Shadowlands hits?
If you notice, your abilities already do a lot more damage in legacy content than they do in Legion+ stuff. Something similar will most likely be implemented in Shadowlands.
Better question: Will level 60 quest gear be sufficient to make those raids soloable, or am I going to be required to have level 60 raids on farm to be able to solo level 50 raids.
With BFA, Legion raids are not soloable with just quest gear. Same happened with Legion and WoD raids, etc.
That’s because they decided that the previous expansion’s content doesn’t qualify for the legacy buff. No idea if the same is going to be true about BfA content next expansion, but I’m 99% sure everything else will be fine.
If your chosen style of gameplay is to farm old content on an army of sub max alts for those really rare drops, you won’t be able to do that anymore. But they’ll be happy for you to spend the entire expansion leveling up your army of alts and getting good gear on them, which probably means you won’t have any time to actually “farm” anything.
Most likely the levels for the raids will be cut by about half, just like our character levels.
Remains to be seen just how player and npc power will be squashed along with the levels.
My guess is, least at first, npcs will be tougher than intended. Just like the first squish made it much more tedious to solo old content (bosses that died in 1-2 seconds pre-squish took over 20 seconds post-squish).
The 1-50 leveling is ONLY for leveling. Once you’re past that part, all content scales similar to the way it does now. The example we were given was MoP would be around level 35 stuff.
You will be able to do old content exactly as you do now.
What was stated at blizzcon was the 1-50 old world content is ONLY in “Chromie Time”.
Essentially once you hit level 10 Chromie contacts you and tells you to see her so she can send you back in time to experience past content to train you.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS.
Outside of Chromie time everything scales as usual. So if 120 is 50…then outlands /wrath will be 25.
