We should be able to pick the level of difficulty we want to the world content to be when we have a new xpac. A full-bore mythic raider will have an easier time moving through content than a casual. So, at the onset of the xpac we should be able to choose how hard the game is. Option should be Regular, Normal, Heroic, or Mythic. Gear should scale to chosen level and you should be stuck to the level you choose with your toon, or if you don’t choose wisely to have a way to scale up or down one time, for a cost.
Unless the gear at a given difficulty matches what’s available from stuff like raids and M+, difficulty of world content doesn’t really matter. Even top-tier players will just pick the lowest difficulty to speed along towards the stuff where the real rewards are.
No, it shouldn’t. This just messes up the entire ranking system for gear that we currently have.
I don’t think it should match raid or M+ gear, but a higher-level dependent on your selected level of player difficulty.
Oh man lol
I mean, if I could make the world 100% more difficult but get 50% more stuff (xp, gold, rep) from what I do in the world I’d take that trade.
No.
This is a waste of dev time and is a terrible idea.
Rofl no. World content is designed to be completed by 100% of the player base. It should never award bis gear.
By 74-75, all of your gear will be gone and everyone will be “equal” again.
Leveling is dictated mostly by travel, not by killing things, so those folks with there 575 iLevel gear while you flounder on a newbie at 420 will level fractionally faster than you will, and, by 74-75, you’ll all have the same gear anyway.
The entire purpose of leveling in the new expansion is to reset the gear path for everyone and get folks familiarized with any new systems, and the new terrain.
If you want to level in “hard mode”, take your gear off. You won’t get any better gear, but maybe you’ll get to hang with the spirit healer more and have more “fun”.
They are hard set on a one size fits all leveling experience. I don’t think that’s going to change. We don’t get lots of leveling options.
This would stop all the people who cry because leveling is too easy. Make a mythic+ setting and scale it so that +25 is actually physically impossible.
“Game is way too easy!” “Oh did you level on mythic +25? No?”
Couldn’t it just fit in with the existing ranking system for gear that we currently have? I don’t see the problem.
If I set Outdoor Content to Mythic, then I’m going to probably have to form 5-mans to complete WQs (remember doing that in Wrath?) and the gear should be comparable to Heroic track gear with Mythic track gear coming from world bosses requiring a raid team to kill.
There’s no need for new tracks of gear… just a way to get some of the Heroic/Mythic track gear in Outdoor Content for a comparably higher difficulty (requiring a team of 5 for WQs and 25 for WBs).
Except that world boss wont be difficult.
Nor will that world quest.
You can up the difficultly level from world mobs, and it would still be completely trivial for the other forms of content giving that gear.
It was just an idea. I didn’t promise it would be a good one.
I disagree… they could add mechanics in like Normal/Heroic Raid has for a single boss fight; just apply that to a WB on “hard mode”. The casuals can still have their loot pinata that gives Veteran track gear… those that had to deal with a Heroic Raid boss in the outdoor world could get Heroic track gear. Why would you think that’s not possible?
I’m not saying it’s probably; there’s no business case to waste dev dollars on this, but it should be feasible if money rained out of the sky on the project team’s budget.
They have a hard enough time just balancing specs and classes…
And you want to add something that would be a nightmare to balance…may I have what you’re smoking?
If they can scale world bosses based on the number of players fighting it, why couldn’t they offer a mode to fit each of our needs. They already do this when they tune dungeons, raids, or even solo content that adjusts to your ilvl. I’m just saying that having the choice to choose a level of difficulty for questing, dailies and content of the like would bring a new challenge to the game.
Well I’m assuming why they haven’t done it as of yet the ROI to time investment is probably not there… and it would be a nightmare to balance.
I would 100% be behind this. I get why quest content has to be like, unfailable, but I do like a lot of WoW’s lore, and sometimes the world gets super easy way too fast.
I remember being in Zereth Mortis, and in a few days of that patch release, I could solo the elites. It wasn’t worth it since nothing in the overworld was worth fighting for anyway beyond farming for mogs and pets and mounts and such.
I usually end up switching WM once the world content becomes trivial. At least with the threat of being jumped by horde, there’s a legit element of danger.
I think this would cause even more sharding issues though lol.
Open world content is based on Explorer and Adventurer. It uses Wyrm Crests.
Higher than that requires doing Heroics, LFR, World boss and then up.
Everyone has a ceiling.
No.
