Level as Resto or Ele?

Might sound like a dumb question but just thought I would ask. Should I level as ele to make the level process smoother? I plan on maining resto this expac, or do you guys not think it matters? Thanks in advance!

Imo lvling as Resto isn’t fun regardless of whether it’s effective or not. Between the two I’d go Ele but Enh is where the fun is at!

Also resto just had its dmg nerfed significantly. I will try to find the source but I think up until lvl 45.

With that being said lvling is soooooooo fast now that you can run dungeons as resto and sky rocket to lvl 50.

Ele is still amazing at aoe grinding. Even if you do get EQ a little late.

Oh ya that’s a good point. If you’re going to lvl via dungeon grinding then for sure go Resto for faster queues. I was thinking of questing when I said pick a dps spec.

I’m almost done leveling as Enh. I picked every active ability talent I could to level with just for more buttons to push. Now we’re near the end I’m changing back to some passives. But I really like ele blast on first tier talent. I’m not 100% sure I’m gonna give it up. I mean what else we gonna spend maelstrom procs on? Chain lightning and frost shock?

Enhance. I leveled as Ele and towards the end I was like “Why did I do this?” Without a buffer like a pet or the ability to just cc and burn down everything ranged leveling is awful. Thankfully it goes so quick now.

I’m thinking it was 35…or 38 that Resto has it damage “regulated”. After that it kicks back up.

I’ve leveled Shamans as Resto and Ele/Enh.

Enhancement is really fun leveling. I’ve never mained it at end game as I always am Resto/Elemental tho but it sure was fun to quest with.

Ele is equally good for leveling too but you’ll be hardcasting a lot.

Resto is just fine to level, especially if your chain running dungeons. Or even if not, Resto is great for that extra survivability.

All good whatever you choose.

ShamanGeneral[With regional restarts] Chain Heal healing reduced by 7%.Restoration[With regional restarts] The bonus damage for choosing the Restoration Shaman specialization has been lowered to 15% (was 40%). At level 37, this value increases back to 40%.

I’m going to be questing as Ele and doing dungeons as Resto. I prefer ranged over melee so I haven’t even set up any Enh bars lol.

I am going to be leveling as Restoration. It feels like the same damage as Elemental questing and I have the added near immortality of heals.

I was close! lol, I was thinking 35-38.

Still think that its weird that Resto Shamans suddenly get a damage bump out of nowhere but I guess whatever works is the philosophy.

It’s because their base damage is tuned lower. What was happening with the level squish was they had that extra 40% damage and were better DPS than Elemental (and a lot of other specs too IIRC). This keeps them out of that high DPS range until their spells/talents fall off a bit.
