Topic. I have a Troll Shaman I’m maining in TBC, but I’m not sure which would be smoother for leveling? I plan on going Ele at 70

Enhancement, for sure. You’d spend much less mana, thus less downtime.
Enhance is easier as you don’t have as much downtime, and isn’t as gear reliant. Once about 40ish or so you can swap to Ele if you wish as you will have access to much better Ele talents.
It’s all easy really. I’ve been leveling as 7 enhancement (for insta-wolf mainly, with the side of +5% mana) & rest in restoration & it’s still fast, easy & highly survivable on crazy pulls. Plus, no real miss/resist problems on oranges & such. It’s just a matter of play style preference, & I’ve always preferred 1Hnd/Shield melee play over 2HND or DW. I tried enhance as primary spec for a bit to change things up for variety, but it didn’t suit me personally, so I switched back.
I’ve done both, enhancement is better when you go OOM, which you will. Once elemental goes OOM, they are very limited. I’ll be leveling elemental just because I love ranged DPS.
Elemental is just as fast as long as you also take Instant Ghost Wolf, but you have to have that talent or it is not. I’ve leveled both on beta to 70, about a 5% variance in time, and that can be chalked up to RNG on quest drops.
Edit I will add that you need to understand how to play Ele efficiently but when you play it the proper way, same leveling pace as Enhance.
I played as Elemental up to 60, but I’m not sure if I’m 100% optimal since I didn’t do much endgame content with him. Would it be best for me to go enhance from 60 to 70 then? Or should I grind it out for those 10 levels with Ele to learn it a little better?
Personally I find ele is more fun, enhance more efficient.
If you want 70 ASAP then just go enhance. Or resto dung farm I suppose.
