Trying to track the history. I remember a purchasable set of 234 gear for fresh 80’s moving from WotLK to Cata. Looks like the items themselves were added in 4.3 for returning players (boost related?), and they were added to vendors in Hyjal and Vashj’ir some time in MoP.
As a 109 ilvl player trying to walk into these zones, it would be very helpful to not take 5 minutes to kill each mob or drop thousands on the AH for BoEs.
I’m guessing boost related. It’s a rough spot not having been in wotlk for however long it was. For a few reasons but not having the gold or max JP’s etc is a hiding to nothing in the economic situation of I imagine quite a few servers. Only way around this really is be self sufficient with crafting but that’s a long process in itself. Everythings 200-300%g either for its potential transmog or disenchant value rather than its actual practical value. Happens with folk at gold caps etc
Starter greens are 272 and quite cheap with how many people are out there finding them.
You can also do a wintergrasp with quests for over 1k honor and at least get the main 5pc for about 300 honor an item for 277 il gear.
This is how it always is, there’s a gargantuan jump between expansions for new and undergeared characters. Just go to Hyjal and do the first few quests, get a 272 weapon and you’re set.
