(Insert disclaimer here about how many people think heirlooms are useless, but some do still use or plan around them so until we get an announcement about heirlooms being “archaeology’ed,” we have every reason to expect their continued support)
I asked about this for 11.1 and folks rightly pointed out that heirlooms aren’t really “late” until we hit 11.1.5 with no sign of them. I asked again at 11.1.5, the “halfway point” of a likely 3-season expansion. Now, there are no new heirloom level-up devices on the current 11.1.7 PTR’s applicable vendor, and considering the likelihood of TWW being only 18-ish months, I think it’s reasonable to raise an “alarm” that the first patch AFTER the halfway point of the expansion may not catch up our heirlooms to level 79.
I have posted a bug report (again) as well after checking the applicable vendor on the PTR, but I wanted to cover the “forum feedback” angle, once again.
Dear devs: If heirlooms aren’t being updated to level 79 for 11.1.7, please say something and address their status and intended cadence. Some players plan their alt-leveling cadence around this feature that we have every reason to anticipate continued support for.
It is well past due. If you’re retiring them to “this is what you use to get TO the current expansion” or something, that deserves transparency, please.
Currently level 60 quest greens are better then 70 heirlooms. The Ilvls just out pace heirlooms enough that it’s pointless after level 60 to even both with keeping heirlooms equipped, beyond just not having a replacement.
Unless Heirlooms are going to get their scaling adjusted to be competitive there really isn’t a reason to bother with them anymore.
lol, try that with Brann at less than 80 and see how well it goes. Heck just try, to do some of the quests with just the heirloom weapons, note I’ve got them leveled to 70. I’m sure you’ll have a blast running full rotations with the more weapons orientated classes, just for the trash pulls.
Cute little cop out way of saying you don’t care about opinions, or experiences.
I… what? I’m posting a feedback thread that I, someone who likes heirlooms, fact, would like them updated. That’s… not a debate. You can have your opinion but like… when I say “I like this, can we please has,” it’s not the natural followup that some rando says “NO YOU WRONG” to my… posting objective feedback and statement of desire at the devs in the PTR feedback forum…?
As the person that looked back on this; you’re right that not having them by now is a delay. Not having them in 11.1.5 means that only Legion was later by having them drop in 7.2.5, and that looked like it was a mistake.
But, yes, there is still time to get these added to 11.1.7. I’m currently leveling a character on Live and the heirlooms are still consistently useful, especially with the Winds buff.
I don’t understand why Blizzard puts in nonsense like the leveling buff and nerfed the hell out of heirlooms which psople spent time and effort getting to make them worse than leveling greens. Make them blue level equivilants again.
While this is likely the halfway point, I wouldn’t expect to see S3 of TWW to end until November/December. Each season has been half a year ever since shadowlands.
I could see them adding them in one of the meme (x.5, x.7) patches of S3
Except Blizz have been on record many times stating that this trilogy would be comprised of shorter 18 month(ish) expansions, so you can’t use the measuring stick of “since Shadowlands” or anything else before as a comparison tool for what to expect going forward since there isn’t enough time to have as many seasons as in previous expansions. Take the alt currency everyone is butthurt about. You didn’t get that type of ability to buy your BiS gear or do challenges from previous tier content until the final season of the expansion in SL or DF… and yet here they are in S2 of TWW teasing such content. I’m not sure S3 will last the full 6 months, especially if they want to fit in some sort of recycle event like they usually do, not to mention prepatch catch up events for Midnight. The Legion Remix tease is also still floating around out there. TLDR There’s still a lot of stuff to try and squeeze in before winter, so I’m not so sure the seasons will last as long as you might think.
Have you not realized the x.5 and x.7 patches have just been recycling the DF pre patch event ? They really don’t have much content… it’s very formulaic, I’d argue it would be super easy for them to fit that content in. I’m expecting S3 around late July/early August. Keep in mind those small cosmetic patches are part of the season.
The x.5 and x.5 patches are usually just insert battle pets/mount/random renown track and add the elemental invasion with different mobs (this patch was Sureki nerubians instead of elementals, in DF we got the time rifts were also the same exact thing)
I’d argue the UI updates have been more in depth than the actual content this expansion.
I use my heirloom gear up to level 69, at level 70 I have gear I convert to S4 tier Dragon Flight, and I use that up to current level. At current level I have another set of gear to put any new alternate character in. I dropped over 3.6 million gold upgrading my heirloom gear and all but a few slots I ever have to worry about upgrading. Even the pieces I don’t have an auto upgrade it might be 10-20 levels before a piece might drop for that spot.
Having 38 level 80s in all current season mostly tier gear, either the game has gotten easier, or I’ve gotten a lot more efficient at doing this.
I have a lot of gear saved from when I did that content and a lot of Residual Memories saved up from pre-launch of The War Within to buy what I am missing then go convert it to tier pieces since old tier require no badges or crests to convert.
You had mentioned “pure delve leveling” and also complaining about the lacking of level 79 heirlooms?
In the last couple patches, Blizzard made a change to the delve drops.
Any gears drops from the delves chest at the end (even from level 1 delves) will automatically increase its gear level when your character will level up, such gears will be topped at 587 when you will reach 80.
Did you actually play any delves during your 70-80 leveling ?
Level 1 delves always work differently, it is basically the follower dungeons level in delves. The monsters power will be always auto adjusted based on your gears level. If I am having a ilvl 540 doing a delve at level 78, the difference of doing it with ilvl 440 is very minimum. If you are familiar with the story of the delve, you will finish it within 5-6 minutes either ways.
ilvl to me means nothing if the set bonus makes up the difference. I also value skill is greater than gear as a skilled player can make up the short comings of a geared player with no skill. When heirlooms got you to current level, I replaced my gear then and not with some very random green from a quest. When The War Within launched my original 36 level 70s all had season 4 tier Dragon Flight gear and until they broke the tier sets at 80 those first few characters still used tier sets at 80. My current 38 level 80s all had season 1 tier gear by start of season 2 and 60% of those are in season 2 tier of some sort slowly upgrading as the season goes on.
What needs to be done is tier sets need to break at 71, not 80. A piece of gear that adds a few points in primary stat and loads more health doesn’t outweigh someone that knows how to play a class and learn to survive, something people don’t care about, it’s a game and I can respawn right; that’s now how I learned to play.
As it stands now, I can’t even make it out of Isle of Dorn before hitting level cap because of how easy it is to get experience just from questing. Soon as a new character hits current level max, I have full sets of war bound veteran gear waiting for that new character.
