Level 70 boosted char flying

I boosted a bm hunter from level 1 directly to level 70. However I found that I can’t do normal flying in Stormwind city and anywhere else. It’s said that a char can do normal fly once reached level 30. Now what am I missing?

They’ve removed the need to buy riding training — it’s now just something you learn when you hit the appropriate level. So, your character should have flying unlocked without any action needed. Just summon a flying mount from the mount journal and it should let you fly anywhere that allows flying (and doesn’t require a special pathfinder achievement to fly.) I boosted a character from 1 yesterday and it worked fine for me.

When you summon a flying mount and try to fly what happens?

I have several other chars which can fly normally. So I think I know what it is. This boosted char just doesn’t fly. It’s like before the DR unlocked.

I also started a brand new evoker, brought her to lvl60, and it seems that she doesn’t fly on flying mounts either.

Don’t know if I need to call wow support for this. Actually she flew normally for a while in Stormwind. It seems that somehow it’s ‘reset’ after hitting lvl60 receiving the Dragon Isle quest line.

This happened even to my trial char. It reset all of a sudden in Stormwind. It’s like it flew this moment and lost the ability the next moment.

There has been some wonky stuff since the patch with sub 70 characters and getting the dragonriding button to show up, which may be causing some other issues. That wouldn’t explain the 70 boost, though.

Are you using a regular flying mount or a dragonriding one? If it’s a dragonriding one, is the vigor bar coming up?

Should be a standard dragonriding one, named “Algarian Stormrider”.

Yes, it is with the vigor bar up. I noticed that whenever the vigor bar is up, the char won’t be able to fly normally.

Ah, okay, I see now. That’s just currently how it works. They added dragonriding to anywhere you can fly in a recent patch. So, once a character is high enough level to dragonride, that’s what those mounts will do. You’ll need to use a non-dragonriding mount to regular fly. TWW will add a toggle between the two modes, but for now it’s determined by mount type.

Oh, never realized that it’s mount type dependent. Now at least it worked on one of my mounts “Swift Purple Gryphon”.

Thanks so much for the help. Really appreciated.

I just had the same problem and got a hint when my alt sensed a dragon glyph nearby. The old 3 levels of vigor isn’t much and I cannot use my regular flying mounts in Dragon Isles. Maybe a pathfinder issue since this alt is the only one on this account that’s this high lvl. I wish they would let you know these things.

I think that it’s due the quests design that normal flying doesn’t work in the Dragon Isles.
