So, comming back to WoW for the first time since the Level squish, I know the level Cap is 30 for alot of the zones, my question is when i hit 30, if i want to keep questing in those zones will I continue to level and see quets? Or will all the stuff turn off and gray out?
You can continue to do the quests but you’ll have to turn on trivial quest tracking on your minimap at some point in order to see the quest markers. I think you will stop getting much XP once you outlevel the zones, in which case you’ll need to move on to higher level zones to continue leveling.
Once you have a level 50 character you’ll be able to access Chromie Time on any of your characters that are 57 or lower; when you turn that on all the zones outside the current expansion scale up to level 60 so you can level up anywhere you want.
You start getting a penalty to XP gains once you’re over an expansion’s cap, that ramps up pretty quickly. So, you’ll still get decent XP for a few levels after the cap. Mob XP will eventually zero out, but you’ll always get a fraction of quest XP, so even way above the cap you’ll still very slowly level.
With the exception of BfA and Shadowlands, you’ll start getting an overlevel bonus when you are 5 levels over the cap. In Classic zones, you’ll pretty much start one shotting stuff at 35, mostly one shotting stuff in BC, and you’ll overpower Wrath stuff, but not as dramatically.
The caps are:
Vanilla, BC, Wrath: 30
Cata (the level 30+ zones), and MoP: 35
WoD: 40
Legion: 45
BfA and Legion: 60 (Some end game BfA areas and the raids only scale to 50.)
