Level 25 where to begin in retail, returning player

Wanting to play this DK and get her to 60 that said, where do I begin when I log in? Where do I quest/get quests in Shadowlands? Thanks sorry for being vague just see a lot of changes since I left in Legion.

chromie in orgrimmar will let you level in any expansion you would like. If you never did BfA you might have no choice but to level there, although you are already 28 so it should be relatively quick, I for one really enjoyed zuldazar as a leveling area. Once you reach 50 you follow the quest that pops up for shadowlands.

Awesome thanks! Not sure if I have any new quests tho like BFA is there a way to start the quest line to go to the newer areas?

it might pop out automatically when you log in or you may have to talk to chromie or the board near horde leadership building near the entrance gate. There is a quest that will make you play a short scenario to eventually end up in the zandalari golden city

thanks!! I’ll see!

Note that Chromie Time won’t be available to you unless you have at least one toon at level 50 or above. In which case, Blizzard almost forces you into doing BfA first as a “newcomer” player even if you are returning and have played before.

That said, if you recall enough and use the map, you could level outside of BfA and without Chromie Time the old fashioned way, just pay attention to which levels are showing on the map when you mouse over them to ensure you are at the appropriate content level.

Welcome back and good luck.

If you don’t know where to go, you can stop by the Warchief’s Board in Orgrimmar, or use the Adventure Journal down in your action buttons and it will tell you a level appropriate place.

ahh k! kinda remember adventure journal. Thanks! Will look into it!

BFA isn’t too bad. Although I’m really burnt out on Freehold with alts.

I prefer Kul Tiras zone leveling over pyramid of sadness

id like to finish Legion up…is that an option without having a 60 already?

As others said, you might be locked into BFA first go around. I’d visit Chromie and see

You can level in Legion no problem. Without Chromie it scales up to level 45!

I would definitely get the legion artifacts for your class. I think those quests are cool and good for mogs later on. I also really like BFA clothing, both the alliance pirate themes and the horde romanesque themes.

You can also go back and finish stuff after hitting 60 for more mindless chill times. Even do some low level dungeons for some mogs. You can get a good dragon mount from wrath with 100% drop in dragonblight at bottom of that tower, I think the center dungeon.

I definitely want to finish all the expacs for mog reasons, if nothing else. Also despite the hate of shadowlands (or so I hear) I’m interested in more and new lore.

I try to be interested in the story as well, but I haven’t bought SL since I don’t think it’s really added anything worth paying for. I’m waiting until 10.0 (when it most likely becomes part of the base game) to see what it’s like.

Note: the breadcrumb quest that sends you to shadowlands will pop up at lvl 48. It’s a trap, level to 50 before you follow that quest or you’ll find yourself behind and having to do some tedious grinding to continue the story at certain parts of shadowlands

If you accept it at level 49, and you have rested XP, you’ll hit 50 partway through the Maw quests.

Thanks all.
