I just checked it on my uncloaked 418 Warrior and “The Waking Dream” now says “Requires Ashjra 'Kamas, Shroud of Resolve” so it looks like Blizzard fixed this part.

Raid participation during WotLK was never that high, the article is only talking about players who actively raid which makes sense that the completion rate would be that high.
If you think that they are referring to ALL 12 million players who were active subscribers during WotLK I think you would be highly over estimating participation.
That’s the whole reason Blizzard released LFR they felt that not enough people were seening the content.

Actually that % is right but heavily skewed due the fact that of the wintersgrasp raid that was free gear for anyone kinda proving my point nobody actually took the time to read it just jumped in with opinions. And as for the reason lfr was implemented was not because of people not raiding it was to add the content that the casual player could insta que into as stated by the devs when it was released. The its so people can see the raid convention didnt start until mop
There are people trolling … I was trying to do LFR last night and there were ppl joining with ilevel 470,465 etc with no cloak and causing wipes .
You shd be prevented from removing your cloak once you are in the raid .

Just another failure in the long list of game development issues. I’m not even surprised anymore. The talent left Blizzard years ago.
Flying back and forth for hours is crucial content we must do to get the cloak on alts now, makes sense right. I’m not sure if they don’t know what they’re doing or don’t care.
Honestly I did read most of it.
Notably this part “I went through every fifth (#1, #5, #10, #15, #20 and so on) realm on the current (as of Saturday afternoon) US realm ladder on wowprogress and entered the number of guilds listed under each tier. All data shown in this post is from a one fifth sample of all US realms listed.”
As I said it’s based of guilds participating in raids which makes it inaccurate measure of participation as the post creator explains himself with his disclaimers, notably
“This data was collected entirely from wowprogress. I make no claim that it is wholly accurate, nor do I know what criteria wowprogress use/used to classify a guild as 25 man or 10 man.
2) No attempt has been made to ensure that guilds listed are distinct. If a guild is listed under 10 man and 25 man for the same tier on wowprogress, they are also represented here under both categories. Adding the number of 10 man and 25 man guilds together does not equal the total number of guilds raiding.”
It’s like going to an olympic athlete village and doing a survey of how many people had competed in a registered event.
All the data says is that the guilds that did raid during those expansions killed at least one boss.
Heck the reason it’s probably not 100% is solely because the data was recorded in MoP and some of the guilds possibly were created after WotLK and thus didn’t show kills from it.

A part of me wonders if they left that mechanic in out of spite.
They had to have known that it would be this way and maybe they thought that giving people a miserable experience would encourage them to get the cloak. Punish the players until they do what you want!
Why not just say “you need the cloak to enter?” Maybe they’re thinking people would just dip out on doing N’Zoth in that case.

Nah, let them in without a cloak. If they get MC’d and die, kick them. They will get the cloak, or not progress. It’s player-enforced.

Cloak = win
No cloak = fail
It’s funny to see the lazy people die instantly.
Also, damage and healing.
But without the cloak you instantly die. That’s what I mean. It’s not like if you go in and you don’t have the cloak, you just have to “Do your best” and find ways around it. You go in without the cloak and you die. That’s not really a mechanic. That’s a hard gear check which is why you shouldn’t even able to queue without it and I think they fixed that already.
You’re absolutely right. This game should cater to those who are new and trying the game out. It’s too daunting to follow a quest chain or read quest text. I believe people should be given 460 mythic plus gear and atleast a lvl 12 legendary cloak. Because god forbid they need to use their brains or learn how to play this game.
If you’re someone who is just dabbling into this game I don’t feel like you are owed to see the end game. I don’t feel like you are owed anything. It’s an MMORPG invest your time and seek your prize. Don’t just come in with your brain off and your hand out. This game has spent way too much time catering to people who arn’t going to stick around has forsaken the people who have been playing for 10+ years in the process.

Its ok and no im no lfr user I only raid herioc plus but I dont advocate the removal of pfr it has its place and it doesn’t effect anyone so just leave it. But what I do advocate is you should have to do the game content like getting the cloak to be able to do it this is were people disagree with me
no one serious about raiding uses LFR to raid.
of course they won’t, who ever suggested that LFR is there for serious raiders? Personally due to time restraints etc, I will probably have a crack at LFR as I don’t have the time to run through normal or heroic.
I know I wont be getting any gear that will help me in any way, doesn’t mean I don’t want to see it. Why can’t you people get it through your thick heads that there is a portion of the player base that will use LFR to see content they normally wouldn’t see
and it doesn’t affect you at all
