Lets talk Spellweaving

Ive had a couple people ask my how to do it and its starting to become clear that Preservation Evokers dont know about a hidden mechanic in their kit.

You have the ability to spell weave your Echo into an Living Flame AFTER the cast while the flame is travelling to target still. I have started to see some intense use of it in Raid healing going from 6targets max to over 15. This is an extremely situational thing like the Stasis Cauterize stack, Except it actually happens more often.

So for example:

Living flame is cast on Target A, While the living flame is travelling to the target you can Echo a second target, Target B. If done correctly you will fire off two Living flames to 2 separate targets with 1 GCD (technically 2 cos of cast time).

Under the effects of Haste stacks Like Uldaman and lust i have actually gotten it onto TWO extra targets but you must be at max range which isnt a max range at all and the targets needs to be running away from you. And you need to be standing in haste sand pools with a haste proc and over 30% base haste.

Enter Raid. When i found out about this i was shocked it worked this way but it is sure interesting and more people should be practicing and learning how to do it.

Talents

Leaping flames (class tree)

Font of Magic (Spec tree)

Temporal Anomaly + Resonating Sphere. (Spec Tree)

Temporal Anomaly applies 2 targets with a 30% echo (is effected by other echo talents and ends up being 45%).
Temporal anomaly can apply roughly 8 stacks of Echo if not used during cast.

Fire Breath with 5 stacks hits 6 targets with your next living flame because of Leaping flames and Font of magic.

So to put the concept into perspective with spellweaving with out using haste.

8 (TA Echo) + 6 target increase of Living Flame + 1 Echo weaved after the initial fire off of living flame = 15 targets hit with living flame.

Living flame has a chance to apply Essence Burst by 20% stacking twice. After successfully doing above combination you basically always get 2 stacks of Essence burst which you can then use on things like Emerald Blossom or more echos or a dps Disintegrate or 2.

the real kicker about this tho, You can technically use stasis to apply 3 more echos if you do it correctly and you can also do it every 30seconds with the stasis being a 2minute increase. This 30second and 2minute duration goes dramatically down when you use the talent flow state 2/2. Lowers All Cd’s by 10% basically making it roughly 25seconds

Does it always hit 15 targets, no, Some times the fire breath stacks up with the echo which doesnt actually duplicate the healing because it just consumes the Echo like it does with Spiritbloom. But if lucky enough, you can hit a solid 8-10 people with Living flame.

What i tend to do is fire the TA into the ranged and Living Flame and echo on tanks into melee.

Just a little food for thought on the interactions of Echo and Living Flame that i hope helps you heal better on your preservation. If it is even used once it is a net positive.

Thx for this, very detailed

Yeah it’s not a super obvious mechanic, but extremely helpful once you realize you can do it. I use it quite a bit healing 5 mans, and I think it hugely helps evoker single target and spot healing. Endless possibilities with this. A few things I noticed:

  1. Living flame actually travels slightly slower when healing instead of dpsing (it zig zags a little when traveling to allies). Not sure if this was intentional, but it is convenient. I almost wish they would slow it down a little more to make this easier to do.
  2. I don’t think it’s possible to spellweave when you cast living flame on yourself. Makes sense since there is no travel time, but annoying since that would actually have huge synergy with ancient flame (reducing the cast time of living flame after you cast it on yourself). The synergy is still there though in a sense - LF yourself > LF target A (reduced cast time) > echo > copy LF.
  3. If you’re dpsing with LF, it doesn’t copy. But the leaping flames DO spread to allies. And you can echo those if it does.

Quick little update, I have been playing with Stasis in M+ and started to notice a few things happening. You can apparently spell weave stasis behind a TA and it still registers it as a TA. It has to be almost instant tho so its not 100% of the time

That sounds interesting, could you explain more on what you found?
