from what i can see right now, we have categories: raid, M+, and PvP, with 3 tiers each.
the concept seems simple, 1st tiers is accessible, 2nd requires more than casual participation in the content, 3rd is a more dedicated participation within that content.
i suspect that with the lowering of daily and weekly grinds, the number requirements to unlock and upgrade the choices is supposed to be a mouse wheel to keep the no lifers occupied.
also, within raid AND M+ categories, i’m dubious of the term averages, and feel strongly that at minimum, we will need a mouseover explaining exactly what we need to do to level up the loot in our chests for each specific tier in each category. moving on.
M+: i feel that the first tier of M+ is the only one that is fine. your highest completed dungeon. while five dungeons feels alright for the second tier choice, 15 feels like ALOT. 10 feels much more reasonable. 8 would be better. you have raid for 6-9 hours a week. potentially guild responsibilities. dailies, weeklies, gold grinding, AND we are supposed to be able to reasonably maintain an alt this expac.
Raid: lets be real. the first tier of raid needs to be unlocked for killing one raid boss, with max loot being unlocked at mythic difficulty. this is fair. it is unreasonable to expect a raider to kill even 2 mythic bosses to unlock loot at the level of one dungeon run, which most likely will be a 10 or 12 key season 1. the second tier can to be 3 boss kills, the 4th can be 6. im extremely suspicious that “average” is going to be extremely disappointing here. 1 boss out of three isnt mythic? poof nerfed loot.
PVP: i will be the first to say, i didnt pay as much attention to this as the others, and have essentially zero pvp xp. the first tier, max level, needs to unlock as a bar to fill, from just doing world pvp, or random que pvp, with no rank restrictions. im not saying it shouldnt take a few hours, as this shouldnt be a freebie tier, but it cant be locked behind rank.
tl:dr, the requirments to unlock extra loot choices are excessively grindy, and the upgrade rules seem loaded with disappointment.
