If AQ is really going to happen next patch, maybe taking all of the trash mobs out of the game from both AQ 40 and 20 might make it so that half of the player base doesn’t quit.

They need to cut down on trash in AQ40 or people are gonna get burned out.

I think they’re honestly fine the way they are. The raids aren’t even difficult to begin with. Just scale them around 20 players and allow the base difficulty to have up to 40 players so the trash players can just throw numbers at the bosses until it dies lol. Obv wouldn’t work for some of the mechanic check fights but maybe the bosses would die quick enough…
The normal cycle of FRESH. Most vanilla pservers have huge dropoffs by the time AQ comes out.

You want this phase to go for another 2.5 months? You realize how bad the attrition would be if this phase was that long considering most guilds(or raids since guilds have multiple raid teams) have been on farm in max difficulty bwl since week 1(also if they do extend it like you want i hope they take it out of aq phase so we can get to naxx faster)

I imagine that with our new-old abilities, we’d melt the mobs in AQ if they’re left unbuffed. - How many of ya’ll fished for 'not Oops All Mindflayers. Because you knew those packs would have a 50% chance to lead to a raid wipe.
only reason people will be playing P6 is just to wait till p7. AQ is when i originally quit wow and not looking forward to it this time around.
While I might do AQ, def not helping out with bug farming or warfront again.
They could just make the “base difficulty” the original version like they should’ve done with MC HW1. If you want more loot though you’ll have to do the changed versions. I think its a fair balance. I do really like the trial aspect that they did for BWL. You can go in and smash it 0 trials with a full group of people with ease, or you can do the weekly/max affixes and get a good chunk of bonus loot. It adds a little more excitement to the raid because you might end up getting a chase piece from the chests that didn’t drop on the boss. We saw two nelths tears from our max chests this week.
any new (BIG) raids are likely to be post naxx.
but they have been hyping the emerald nightmare/shadowy figure stuff connected to the old gods. so maybe we get something related to that next phase.
id wait and see what they reveal before planning an exodus personally if i was inclined to quit.
also theres no negative to quitting if you arent having fun. i recommend it in fact.

Why even go into the instance at that point? Just mail the guild Cthun items at the beginning of every week
Throwing out ideas so that the player base does not diminish like it always does every time AQ is released. We all know AQ is a problem, see Classic and see private servers, now what is the solution?
They can simply roll out AQ with only bosses adjusted for SoD, trash won’t be a problem then.

AQ and Naxx are the best zones in WoW. That shouldn’t be a controversial statement.
The game does NOT lose players because they’re poorly designed… the game loses players because they’re the last two zones to open and the average player isn’t willing to commit to raiding every week for months on end just to see AQ and Naxx.
But if you’re still here when they release, consider yourself lucky. They’re peak classic.

Either way, the trash mobs shouldn’t be impacted by difficulty affixes. They’re just there to pad out the instance’s “runtime”.
I know of no one that finds killing trash for 20 minutes to fight a boss for 1min 30sec (or less), just to go on and kill another 20 minutes of trash to fight another boss for 1min 30sec, to be fun.

C’thun with only 20 people instead of 40 sounds a lot more fun. No more having to spread perfectly all around the room to not get chained.

AQ20 is an amazing raid, probably the most enjoyable in classic along with ZG imo.
I do agree some of the trash in AQ40 should be removed for Season of Dads though, nobody likes spending a lot of time clearing a bunch of trash packs.

heh, aq without the trash is a long long walk and needs something to spice it up or it would be incredibly boring .
