So for me I have been a massive fan of Jaina since warcraft III and that has not stopped to this day.
So when I seen that blizzard was doing a Jaian Statue, I was like “oh hell yes where is my wallet?!” I haven’t really been all that into the other Statues, just because I’m not as big of a fan of the other Heroes.
Needless to say I was super excited, and when I seen the Statue for the first time…well I was underwhelmed, and to be honest…disappointed.
I am more then happy to fork out the $492.45 AUD to buy the statue, but not this one, and it’s a shame, I really wanted to like it I really tried to! but I just can’t.
In BFA the art team made a point of giving Jaina these big beautiful blue eyes that are really hard not to notice and a slim heart shape face and porcelain white skin and the statue just went the entire opposite direction, it made her eyes small and black give her a pinkish yellowish skin and gave her Brad Pitt’s Jawline.
I wanna make this clear that I am not trying to belittle the artist who put work into this statue, they have done an amazing job on the body, her body looks fantastic, but If I am going to spend nearly $500 on something I want it to look a little more true to source.
I would like to know what other people think about this.
I really wanna buy this statue, but I can’t justify it I am going to look at it and not like it. and I’m not just going to buy it cause it’s official blizzard.
And it’s easy to say “well simple…don’t buy it”…yeah no really?
I want a official Blizzard Jaina Statue, just not this one.
Not a fan of that statue. Painting looks ok but I see some issues and the face looks off. Too expensive for what it is . Not a big fan of the base either
It is supposed to be a copy of the large statue which was at Blizzcon, and the biggest difference in the face I noticed is that it has a flat skin tone like a cheap action figure with no tone or shading, while the large figure is made more like a waxwork with realistic skin look
I think the statue looks pretty cool, I just don’t have the room or the money for the statue. Her face looks more realistic than in game, so that’s kind of weird.
I quite like the statue, I think it really grabs the essence of the torment, anguish and determination that Jaina is going through. Sure it doesn’t look canon to what she looks like in game but then again her appearance has changed every expansion, I think the artist did very well overall and the detail in her garments and painting are beautiful.
As an artist myself I give fellow artist a little latitude and understanding when it comes to creating and try to take in the flaws as footprints that separates the artist from all other artist.
BIG is right. Eye of the beholder and all that but her huge eyes are unsettling to me. Her model is fantastic overall but the giant eyes seem so out of place to me. No other humans have eyes like that. In fact I think the only characters with bigger eyes to face ratio are one eyed Ogres and C’thun.
As far as the statue goes I think the thing that really throws off is the jawbone. It’s too pronounced. It makes it seem like a statue of someone in Jaina cosplay. IMO they should’ve chosen a design that was an inbetween of current Jaina and the older more traditional one.
