Let's talk about spi... I mean nerubians

In real life spiders both terrify me and fascinate me. I wouldn’t say I’m arachnophobic, I enjoy watching nature shows and seeing all the crazy cool things spiders can do. But spiders being near me or on me is big nope.

The realism of some of the spiders in wow creeps me out, but I am blown away by Azj-Kahet and the nerubians. They definitely have spider-like elements, some more than others, but there are also other bug influences in nerubian society, like ants, beetles, and even scorpions. The way they’ve incorporated these elements is really well done.

I think the Weaver is one of the coolest looking NPCs, the way she hangs there like a real spider would. In truth we should be very afraid of her but at the moment she means us no harm. Theres almost a hint of possible threat in her calling us “morsel”, which highlights how she still sees us a food. In reality we’d be struggling to override our fear response to work with her. She reminds me of the alien from the episode “Beyond the Aquila Rift” in Love, Death + Robots.

Fear response aside, I’m loving the zone and can’t wait to earn the creepy spider mounts.

I’m super glad the Nerubians are back. I even grabbed one of those flying blood tick mounts yesterday to use in that zone. Yah, I’m a filthy rotten Rp’er at times. I didn’t even know until reading your post that there were spider mounts that I could earn, so thank you for that.

I like the delves with the webs on the floor that spawn more spiders when you stand on them. Gives that added annoyance and flavor, just like mucking about with webs in real life will do!

My problem is that every time she calls us “morsel,” all I can think about is the Evocii from the Hutta starter zone quests in SWTOR. lol

I enjoy the sounds they make, always have. If you listen carefully while fighting one, they say “lookout” cracks me up every time
(Could be they don’t say that, but it sure sounds like it to me )

I loved the idea of the nerubians in Warcraft III and was disappointed that they weren’t a playable race.

But given my love hate relationship with spiders irl, Azj-Kahet is kind of like participating in a horror movie for me. So I’m getting that fear and adrenaline buzz like walking through a house of horrors.
