My only concern is their engine. Can it handle placing stuff in the world, wherever you want, with it saving your fine-tuning? Maybe. I mean, you can already place toys anywhere.
Even if they didn’t want to do that type of player housing customization, I’d be fully content with having just areas of the house to upgrade. Maybe the house is very basic (or even empty), and you can purchase different packages.
It could start basic when they first introduce it, like preset themes of wood, stone, etc. for you to buy, with each set looking different (not just a color change). Later in years, they can add more themes and maybe open customization.
I’d be down for player housing. I’ve spent a lot of time decorating my house in FFXIV. My best and I did it together and it was so much fun. My friends and I would hangout there often and I enjoyed that greatly.
Just use a portal mage in Org/SW to take you to an instanced area. That way you have a reason to allow a house in pretty much any enviroment. Pandaren players can choose to live in a plot like Pandaria. Or, Goblins could choose to live in a spot like Bilgewater Cartel without actually taking up any space. Or! They could chose not to.
I’d be thrilled to have a little Pandaren hut with a little zen garden. And, many kegs of Pandaren Plum Wine and Pandaren Brew.
That is exactly what happened to Wildstar. All people did was sit in their houses playing house/sims. No one was out in the world. I remember at one point during peak time in high leveling zone there was literally the only person in the entire zone. I forgot the way to see who was in the zone something like /players and it only had my name.
Not saying Player Housing will do that to WoW since pretty much all other mmos have them but your comment made me remember Wildstar as at the end that is all people did was play with their houses before they pulled the plug on the game.
not sure why there is a huge obsession with player housing, there is absolutely no way in hell it will be worth the time and massive amounts of resources it would take for it to be meaningful content. As much as i think it would be cool i totally see it getting old very fast and i dont see blizzard keeping up with it enough to keep players interested, they already struggle with basic content already, think they have time to maintain a housing system too? Absolutely not
yeah and it was boring after a month, ended up being a mobile game chore and the system was the same for everyone, they had to cut all the themed building plans, and expansions to it because of time, it def killed WODs content schedule for sure. Garrisons was one of the reasons WOD had one of the worst content droughts in wow lol
for you.
6 years later and Im STILL farming transmogs and love finding new dragon mods in DF.
This isnt about you, guy…its about giving casual farmers more to keep busy with.
if you dont like it, you arent required to partake.
oh wait…youre one of those “if I hate it the game shouldnt have it” sorts, right?
lol
Apparently, it’s a huge time sink in FFXIV. I don’t have an interest in it but I’d tag along w my friend when he was trying to gather mats for his house and he’d be farming for a good long time
It gives solo players something else to do rather than WQs and raiders something to do in their off time.
