Let's talk about hunters

I watch quite a bit of twitch. Are hunters just not very popular in classic? In raids I almost always see just two hunters. Most are warriors then rogues then mages.

Are hunters the worst DPS compared to warlock mage warrior or rogue?

Hunters are real good in tbc and have some super good gold farms in vanilla. I wouldn’t sleep on them.

Hunters were by no means bad DPS, but they do lack oomph compared to warriors, rogues, and mages. For leveling and dungeons, hunters are great for their utility and damage. In raids, they’re fine but won’t be filling many slots.

You have 1 rogue in naxxramas and 1 hunter.
And 1 warlock.

Hunters overall have terrible DPS in classic, typically raids bring couple a long for true shot aura, as well as using them as a puller, as they are almost a necessity in AQ40 when pulling some of the trash packs, and make speed runs much easier.

They have several key problems first their pets have short lives in ERA, and have little to no survivability which kills a chunk of their DPS, the other problem is they scale poorly. They are amazing farmers however, strong in PvP, and are able to solo many things that other classes would not come close to.

Yes every raid needs a hunter. But currently on era every raid seems to need like 15 warriors.

ya,but it isnt a vanilla (lock) fresh…we are going into TBC so for me, idc about raiding…im going to pvp and farm 99% of the time in preps for tbc. ive never had an issue finding a dedicated spot in a guild on my hunter and once TBC hits boom…hunters are BIS lol

They’re easy mode leveling.
Dog water in pvp until uber geared and then you have to be UBER SKILLED.

They’re probably 2nd best farmers in all of classic though.
You can watch netflix and level as well if you enjoy raiding. Its good practice.

I mained hunter from 2019-2022 in classic.

Hunter dps is very mid and their utility is alright but there’s no incentive to stack them at all, hence the lack of them you see compared to melees. They also scale pretty horribly.

They are IMO a little bit better in pvp and have some amazing gold farms and soloing opportunities, and the reward for sticking with one is being absolutely freaking OP in TBC.
