I’m not interested in TBC and not sure they could pull off classic+. So it will probably die after Naxx. The servers have been slowly bleeding players since classic was launched and there aren’t more new player starting than those leaving. TBC would further divide the player base.
TBC is probably the best bet because 25/10 man raids would work better with lower populations than keeping 40 man raids in classic+.
Blizzard has never said that they will “do anything to ensure the longevity of classic WoW”. So this is just another thread saying “OP thinks Blizzard should do this”.
Just clarifying a point. Continue discussing possibilities. That’s a perfectly useful discussion.
No. Absolutely not. If they were to do some sort of “Classic+” this would be the one thing they shouldn’t do.
You introduce new gear and you’ve just began your way down an infinite rabbit hole where gear eventually becomes so powerful that… Well it’ll just get silly. We’ve seen how this goes in retail.
Yeah. That’s part of the problem. It’s so open to interpretation that it gives Blizzard a massive open field for screwing it up. Blizzard’s recent track record is all the more reason to stick to a very strict set of already defined parameters.
But that’s what Classic+ is. So much content that was originally planned for Vanilla got put on back burners until later expansions, including TBC. Many of the unresolved plot lines were just fixed or glossed over by Cataclysm and Legion.
Never mind the fact that by the end of Naxxramas, Tanks are near or at the Armor Cap and Avoidance in Vanilla has no diminishing returns, and specs like Fire Mage can just produce ludicrous amounts of damage with rolling Ignite. A reset of level, a bit more depth of talent trees, etc, are all necessary without just creating a one-off Halion style filler boss that’s at or near KT’s difficulty.
So to put it bluntly: Classic+ is not happening. We’ll get TBC Classic or nothing at all.
