Let's stop with the seven billion different colors of gold, please

Nope. Doesn’t even match the new gold outfits we got. :upside_down_face:

Even Asheron’s Call had dyeing added 23-24 years ago, so not having a dye system in WoW is just insane and a massive annoyance when you are trying to get a transmog match.

because we have to. Unless we want to mostly be stuck using full sets, and even they don’t always really match.

They have done a better job (not perfect, but better than before) the last few Xpacs, I’ve had some things that surprisingly matched okay lately.

They’ve explained why they don’t do dyes in this game.

I couldn’t agree more. What’s also annoying is the weird off-color wrappings they add to certain things, in this instance a teal color. Which also matches nothing I own. :dracthyr_cry_animated:

EQ has had a 256 color armor tinting system for about that long as well.

Edit: It’s 0-255 on the red, blue, and green spectrums which is actually 16,777,216 possible combinations.

I wonder how many gold variations are in there?

Dyes would be a lot of work for them. And, really, I prefer the looks of a lot of our gear to what could be easily done with dyes. Also, the current gear reward system uses different colors for different modes/difficulties (and I want to farm them all!!! muhahahahaha).

But, I’ve often wished that they’d go back in to the files for a lot of gear and tweak really similar colors to be the same, and use the same versions for most gear (like I said, they have improved in this). I don’t want it to only be 6 colors or anything, but how many shaded of dark, purplish blue do we really need? or charcoal, or medium magenta? And yes, the zillion shades of gold is the worst, I’m pretty sure they could have the same aesthetics with 3 or something.

The best I can do is do a scaling hue, if possible. Deepest gold on the boots, ending with lightest at the head. It’s a bandaid fix for a lack of real matching pieces :frowning:

Doing a cursory look at an 24-bit rgb colorspace map and winging it on what I would call golds, the trapezoid that encompasses those is about 1.53% of the full color map or around 25.6k colors. Though whether some of those are too yellow or too orange is up for interpretation. :dracthyr_crylaugh:

So does gw2.

Pretty sure the Trading Post gun is mean to be bronze or, possibly, brass.

Dear devs: please put in another shade of gold for my friend Sendryn. I know he’d really appreciate it.

Whatever it is, it doesn’t pair with anything at all. I absolutely love the design though. It just…needs a better color palette.

Also… people are now trying desperately to match the gold in the Warden set. :sob:

How come you don’t spend the next six months farming for all those different colors of gold?

Nope, have to match all my other outfits from the past.

My current transmog(which i like too much to switch) is a perfect example of. Wanted to make a set using the Aberus tier arms and shoulders. But the head and tabard are just slightly off. Glad the chest, legs, and feet match though
