Lets make a case for the Introduction of Night Elf Paladins!

Just some facts out of the way; most know Paladins and Shamans were the faction specific classes at the start. Horde = Shaman / Alliance = Paladin.

As of right now Horde have 9 races that can play shaman.
While alliance has 5 races that can play paladin.

In the horde for shamans 6 of which are new races. 3 are original
For alliance and paladins, 3 are original races and 2 are new races.

I get there is a lore piece here, and as new races are introduced it needs to some extent fit, and maybe shamans are just easier to justify in different races. But there is an unbalance in the two classes.

*Edit (November 1st, 2020) - Bellular gaming in one of their videos brought up something from inside the game stating that there is a case to be made that Elune is a light lord. So lore wise if that is true, or even remotely true as we have Night Elf Priests… The case for Night Elf Paladins fits lore wise! Or could very easily fit!

I would like to bring up a conversation I have seen a few times on forums and online for the Night Elf Paladin. Especially with Tyrande Whisperwind and the more warrior focused from the Night Elfs. It is not hard to see Elune powering the priests to drop them staves and pick up some swords and shields or two handed large weapons and defending their land! Some could continue the work of priest of Elune, but others felt a more direct approach was needed.

As the priest from the Patriot movie said before he marched off to fight
“A shepherd must tend to his flock, and at times, fight off the wolves” . I think that time is now and going into shadowlands we need more paladin to fill the ranks for the Alliance and I think Night Elf’s would be a great addition!

Plus! There was Delas Moonfang… I know some people say that should not count or it was just one off… But I think it is a doorway to actually having Night Elf Paladins!

In Delas own words;

“Long have I followed the path of the light, and for many years I studied under the priestess of the moon. Yet, I have always felt my education incomplete, and a yearning to know more. When I walked into these halls, I finally felt a spark of what was missing. I believe that a new path lies before me”.

So It is there, what we need is Blizzard to read this, think about it. I think that the Night Elf race is the only race that could really fit with the Lore, in terms of using Elune as a source of their power or where they draw the light from. The others would be tricky, but not impossible.

*Edit (November 1, 2020) - Some have mentioned in the comments that they would like to see the color of the spells be more a blue / silver, to represent Elune. While we just want night elf paladins! that could be a really nice touch. Something that shows who they rely on for their power!

There is just a stark difference in the number of classes that can play paladin over shaman.

One final set of numbers for you.

Total number of races that can play shaman - 14
Total number of races that can play paladin - 8…

I leave it for the discussion of the community and pray that Blizzard listens to the community and the light of Elune on this!

Can Night Elves denounce Elune as their God or Deity? after seeing what the “Night Warrior” has turned Tyrande into or what costs it asks? (Seemly death from the two Night Fae love birds?)

Night Elf Paladin: The path of the Night Warrior is an unwelcome one, I believe the Light will lead us to a place of peace.

Also, Kul’Tiran Inquisitor Paladins

Delas Moonfang should have been training NE Paladins as soon as BFA dropped… Maybe even Worgen Paladins… Their transformation comes in part from Elune, them being able to be Paladins through Elune’s light in the same way a Night Elf would makes sense.

Now if only Blizzard would see this and also see the light and let Night Elf’s be Paladins!

They’ll do this before they give Ret mobility.

While I would love to see Ret have mobility, truly I would… I would really like to be able to play my favorite race with my favourite class… and have mobility! haha On another thread I thought about a leap option, Avenging leap, gain avenging wrath for 2 seconds after landing the leap or something… could be interesting…

Also to the other people’s post;

I completely agree, Delas should have been training Paladins right at BFA or at least been recruiting and having them training by the order. And I love the idea of Worgen as well, there could be a really interesting story arc there, conflicting between the beast inside and the light they believe in, that could be very interesting!

And Rez! I agree, I think that makes sense. The lore does fit, and I am sure that they could denouce Elune, pretty sure the Night Elf Demon Hunters are not praying to Elune… haha maybe they didnt have a choice or what not, I dont know the lore or story really well there. However iif only Blizzard would see this and also see the light and let Night Elf’s be Paladins!

Now how to we get a blue post or a developer to see this and at least comment with a maybe this could happen (and ret mobility) or it will never happen, like ret mobility… :stuck_out_tongue:

dont really need a god or diety to use the light, the light is just 1 of the cosmic forces out there in the warcraft universe that almost every1 can tab into as long as they have the will to do so. But there are cases where the weak-minded people look for such external things to get into the right mind-set like the sunwalker or the zandalari & their wild gods. So the night elves don’t really need to denounce Elune to be able to use the Light.

But night elves should had gotten pally after what happened in legion, through the pally order hall questline a night elf turn pally.

True, though they don’t go out seeking it since the Sunwell is a necessity for their survival almost like oxygen is for us; so it’s simply just there for them.

But it would be better if we see more cases like Mehlar Dawnblade who doesn’t need the sunwell since he was a paladin when uther was still alive. I’m pretty sure there should be a few others that does it the same way Dawnblade does, since the blood knights are almost as crazy devoted to the light as the draenei at this point.

I don’t really see an issue with the forsaken getting paladins because there is now a light rez undead. So most likely we can light forge the forsakens.

I like that we have not had any opposition to this! Hopefully Blizzard is watching!

It’s really not though… High Elves are proof enough of that.

I don’t understand why Kul Tiran are not paladins already. They’re humans!

I’m all for it, always have been. Along with the others mentioned, I would like to see nightborn get pallies too. I don’t know if the lore is there, just something I would like to see. It seems like blood elves could train them easily enough, they have the same background in magic.

you know that the high elves that did not rejoin their people are relying on the sunwell instead of sucking up magic from artifacts now right? that’s why there are things like the pilgrimage to the sunwell to reconnect with it. also blood elves are high elves as well, they simply just call themselves blood elves unlike the void elves who are a completely different race because of the void.

about the high elf pilgrims, go do the quel’delar quest you will see them.

This is incorrect, the division between Blood and High Elves was exactly because the High Elves did not participate in draining arcane energy from alternate sources, while the Blood Elves did… The High Elves just manned up and delt with their withdrawl symptoms.

Whether or not they are reconnecting with the Sunwell now doesn’t erase the fact that they survived without it for decades.

Edit: Some of the High Elves wouldn’t have even known that the Sunwell was KO’d because they were stuck in Outland, like those at Allerian Stronghold… And because they were stuck there, seperated from the Blood Elves, they wouldn’t have learned from Kael (who was taught by Illidan) how to do the mana draining to begin with… They all survived fine without even the option to drain mana from alternate sources to sate their cravings.

I doubt decades past since wc3 to the restoration of the sunwell, and no what makes blood elves and high elves different was not based on whether they drain arcane energy or not; it was for the simple fact that the blood elves called themselves that in honor of their fallen and followed their prince & left the alliance. While the ones that did not leave the alliance just kept the name. The reason why so many of the silver covenant did not need to rely on sucking out magic is because they are rangers. But that does not mean all high elves did it like what the silver covenant; as shown by the high elves that were kicked out by Lor’themar that end up draining from some bad crystals turning into wretches right outside the entrance into Silvermoon in epl. Another case are the high elves in Allerian stronghold that relies on Draenei artifacts.

The ranger took his fletching materials from the table to the desk and opened a small drawer. Several arcane crystals lay within. Lor’themar himself did not have as much need for them as his brethren did. In fact, the rangers in general seemed less affected by magical dependence and withdrawal, though Lor’themar was unsure why.

They had heavy armor wearing priests wielding light in the War of the Ancients. So. Paladins.

Since Paladins are basically martial priests, having Elune Paladins works as well as Sunwalkers, or the Zandalari paladins. To be a paladin is to be a warrior with faith. Doesn’t necessarily mean that faith is always going to be the Light.

Nelf paladins WHEN BLIZZARD

Also I’d argue any race that can be both warriors and priests could also be paladins, but Night Elves in particular have the most background of the races currently in the game that don’t already have pallies.

Thank you Yukale, I am loving the support! yes NELF PALADINS WHEN BLIZZARD!! SEE THE LIGHT!

Also I do agree, if you can be a priest and a warrior, what is stopping you from picking up a sword and shield. I was actually on my Mechagnome last night and thought that exact same thing. I am sitting there casting flash heal, an ability paladins have too… So whats going on!

Also yes A warrior with faith! I agree 100%! Share this with your friends folks, I do not know how many people we need on this threat for Blizzard to see it and take notice and to implement it, I would love to see Night Elf Paladin in Shadowlands!!! I think this is the prime time!
