I dont believe Blizzard will be releasing everything at once, they will be adding in patches and raid as they go. By doing so this will put the games in the hands of the players much sooner and give them the extra time to work on parts of the game that come after leveling.
We have 2 options. Release the game with the base game complete, All dungeons complete, and faction rep adjusted for attunements and merchants.
OR
Wait until its fully complete and the game dont come out for 6-9 more months later then what it needed to be.
I think they will be releasing the game sooner than later allowing us to play and for them to develop like any other game they make. It works for everyone. We get the game and they get more time to rework what needs to be done on a set schedule.
What needs to be done for the game to get released just so we get 2 to 3 months to level ? assuming they already reverted the world back to pre Cata
-Mobs HP / XP needs to be adjusted, this may be on a table format so large groups can be adjusted for the new game easier than they would have been back in 2005 (This may even be able to be done on the fly and hot fixed this would all be server side)
-Some mobs removed from the game have to be re-added
-Rep gain may need to be adjusted back to vanilla standards
-NPC's moved / removed from the cataclysm have to be re added
-UI changes for skill trees,
-Loot tables checked rework any drop % changes that may have happened over time
What else has to be done to get the base 1-60 game ready for leveling and NPC interaction done for release.
Im guessing release is 2-4 months away

What about the players that will hit 60 in the first 2 weeks?

They should also have rep and attunements adjusted as they are and can be part of leveling. But i think that will be a very small group of people across many servers. i dont think you will get 40+ people on a single server to hit 60 in 2 weeks. this will definitely be the minority.
I believe in vanilla / classic you can only experience content and do things based on the average speed / player base when it comes to leveling and experiencing the game. So even if someone hit 60, they skipped over a lot of stuff that needs to be done and a bunch of lower level characters needing help. A lot of this game is very slow and team oriented
but lets say a ton of people hit 60 in 2 weeks... is this enough reason to hold a game back what is otherwise a playable game? would it be better to give us nothing and no one hits 60?
Raids will have to be time gated, and should be. IF raids are not time gated then its a non-starter for me as it would be halfway pointless.

Later raids and other content (world boss's etc.) can obviously be released down the line, and give them some time to work on it, or at least finalise polish on them. Makes sense to me. But who's to say how Blizzard thinks nowadays?

This. The only raids that should be open upon release are MC and Ony. All the other dungeons should be open for gearing up for those raids. I don't think Dire Maul should be open. Maraudon... I am torn. It wasn't open day one but it's a leveling dungeon. The only thing I care about from there is the ring off Princess.
Don't forget the private server community is large. Many of us have been fine tuning our leveling paths. Even if it isn't 100% the same we still have an advantage. I played where we started 1.1 and we didn't have all the quests added later. We had to do the grind from 55-60 because we ran out of quests. After the first week a lot of us started hitting 60. You can expect us to be spread out on servers but that also depends on the number of servers. Plus there are different regions. I think most servers will have a good amount of players hit 60 fast. Maybe less than 20 but those people will be ready to go. They will also be cornering the market on items like Devilsaur Gear which is Pre-BiS for a few classes.
Recently, I made a new character to refresh myself on the leveling process so I will be prepared for Classic whenever that is. I know a lot of people say "take it slow leveling is apart of the experience". Well I still experience leveling. I also experience that with alts. For me, end game raiding is where the fun is. And not just clearing it once. I like doing MC over and over. I like doing Ony every week. I want to be a prominent figure on my server. Plus, I can help a lot of players and get to know more people and make new friends if I am able to help them out because I am 60 already.

I haven't played on some time are world bosses / dragons in the game still or did they get removed? is this something that has to be re-added?
I would love to be leveling and see a world dragon fly over head... Like i did back in 2007

They are no longer in retail. There are world bosses each expansion but everyone can do them. It's not a race for the first guild to kill it each week. I assume you were talking about the old world bosses? The dragons are gone. Kazzak and Azuregos are gone. They should be back in Classic but surely not right away.
You are wrong. 8-12 months seems realistic. In the devs' own words: there's lots of work left to do.11/01/2018 04:53 PMPosted by DeadbodymanIm guessing release is 2-4 months away

Yes there is lots of work to be done, but what the min that need to be done to get people playing and what can be added later down the road. Thats the point of this thread and my prediction... If they go the route i am talking about.

They were removed or replaced elsewhere (Doom Lord Kazzak in Outlands) They will of course be in Classic :)
Azuregos (Azshara) and Lord Kazzak (Blasted Lands) are the earliest world bosses in vanilla. Shortly before the AQ event, the Dragons of Nightmare enters Azeroth, as they play a role in the Scepter Of the Shifting Sands quest-line for Scarab Lord (and have some valueable nature resist gear for AQ as well iirc) The dragons are;
Emeriss
Lethon
Ysondre
Taerar

time gating is a terrible idea for an MMORPG.
If the game is 'beaten' in a month, that should be allowed. It's cheese for a company to keep the game alive artificially through time gating.

I mean we are all wrong. We really don't know how much work is left. No one knows. I hope we get a timeline this weekend but I doubt we know an official date.

We want it like that though. We want to progress through the patches like we did originally. If they don't gate the content then we will skip entire patches of content. Its not vanilla to have everything available at once.

You don't understand. Vanilla wasn't time-gated as such. The patch progression introduced items vastly superior down the line, than there was on release of vanilla. Opening everything and giving access to everything from the start, will ruin any sense of progression and challenge. Might as well go play BFA then.

We just need to know are they releasing it when its playable or complete. the rest of the timeline dont matter as much as we will have things to do
Well, we are all going to probably find out on the 3rd, so hyped! <3
