Let's Build a Bridge

There aren’t really any formidable bridges in WoW, are there? You kind of have Thandol Span that gaps Arathi and Wetlands…but it’s kind of beat up. You have some iffy bridges in Netherstorm. You have the one at the entrance to Stormwind. There is the bridge to Dun Baldar in AV. These bridges are just normal average bridges. I could be wrong and I’m just not remembering some giant bridge in-game.

This gets to my question. What are some of the best, most formidable, interesting bridges in games that you have played. I remember one from Iceclad Ocean to Eastern Wastes in EQ called the Grete Spaign. It took quite a while to traverse that thing, and it had a gigantic dragon skull as the entrance.

As a side note, we could use some bridges in this game in certain places… like to span the scar in the Barrens, and also to span the gap between Loch Modan and Badlands.

We do seem to have a dearth of massive bridges. My memory for this isn’t so great, but the longest bridges I can think of off the top of my head would be the windy two-section bridge in Throne of Thunder, and the light bridge in Halls of Valor/Trials of Valor (similar to the molten bridge in Firelands). I know there are bridge-like pathways around the world, but they’re typically depicted as the product of erosion and/or laying small wooden or stone spans between natural pillars.

But in terms of large and visually impressive examples, I can’t really think of any. Maybe someone else can.

After Serpent’s Spine in MoP I was hoping they would include more massive (and intact) structures in the open world …

Also the web bridge in Old Kingdom and the bridge leading to Vashj (even if that one isn’t very long) come to mind as a unique one, but I agree we could use more.

One of my favorite spots in Legion was the big truss bridge near Valdisdall, and the one by Hrydshal too.

There was a small covered bridge in the Swamp of Sorrows. Was a cute little bridge.

You heavily underestimate the alliance bridge in AV. Back when AV was the shiz, ally could hold back horde for HOURS sometimes spanning a whole day going back n forth on that one bridge. The most OP bottleneck blizz ever made lol.

Also there’s a gigantic bridge in bladesedge mountains

The bridge became a whole new beast when they added Thunderstorm. That spell is still the reason my Ele is my favorite toon to play in AV, AB, EotS, etc…

The series of rope bridges that get us from Nazmir up into Zuldazar is quite impressive. It’s like 4 or 5 well planned bridges.

Someone will just blow it up.

We’ll have it fixed up in 10-12 years flat! Azerothian bridge repair crews are renowned for their craftsmanship and speed.
