I bought some of the wing models in the shop for the holiday sale and am immensely disappointed that none of them show your weapon on back. The Butterfly wings from the traders tender shop a couple months ago show your weapons, why can’t the wings I paid real money for show your weapon? This seems like a massive oversight. Also letting the wing models from Shadowlands show your weapons would be cool too.
No thank you, I hate when my weapon goes into my wing. Looks ugly af.
I have a very nice staff that I like to use and would also like to use wings at the same time. Perhaps some sort of toggle? A straight up no is a very small minded way to come at this issue.
Are you saying that your very nice staff and wings won’t clip?
Staves on me are at an angle and would clip right through both wings on either end. No thanks. I mean, I am all for choice and toggles, but my guess is you wouldn’t want to toggle it on for your staff if it is clipping through your wings. There are also a variety of wings and staves, so there’s definitely some potential to look okay and maybe even not clip, but my guess is Blizz doesn’t want to deal with the clipping on most appearances.
Blizzard has never cared about clipping issues. And yes my staff currently clips through my butterfly wings, I dont care. I want to use the angel wings on my priest from Bastion and use my staff at the same time.
As I said,
but considering staves + wings will clip almost if not every time, I’m sure Blizz is trying to avoid as much intentional clipping as possible. They care at least somewhat because they have been known to fix some glaring issues that have popped up over the years. But again…
I specifically use wings, backpacks, and ornaments to hide my 2h weapons. Now its monks I have a problem with not showing unsheathed weapons, ever. At least Jab used to bring them out.
Funny, when my mom said she needed her wings, it was never placed on her back . . .
Which I absolutely hate, so those wings were a waste to me.
Honestly, it seems like having the ability to hide weapons would be the most straightforward fix.
Then people who don’t care about clipping can have their back pieces and weapons showing, the people who do can hide their weapons, and people aren’t forced to equip a back piece in order to hide their weapons.
Feels like a win all around.
I can see and understand the clipping argument. There should be an option to hide weapons that way everyone can be happy. If the clipping with wings/capes bothers you, you can turn the weapons off to fix it. If not, you can just leave it be and rock both at the same time.
As long as it’s weapon/slot specific. I like being able to use a backpiece to hide the buckler that gets stuck on the back instead of the hip for some reason while being able to keep the rapier visible at the side while undrawn.
You mean being able to hide MH and OH things individually? I don’t see why that couldn’t be done.
Given that we can hide things like shoulders individually now, I don’t see why weapon slots wouldn’t be handled individually too.
Same! Currently on my monk:

That’s specifically why I hide them on mistweaver with a backpack, etc. because it feels weird holding a staff in my hands when I’m supposed to be using my fists to heal. I can manually unsheathe my staff and hold it when out of combat, but I like that it goes away completely otherwise. (On WW I prefer the aesthetic of fist weaps)
This would be the biggest W all around for sure!
The ardenweald vine wings match pretty perfect with the resto mage tower staff but i can never see them together since mogging it removes the staff from my back and we dont keep our weapons out while casting; best i get is unsheathing when out of combat.
I dont really mind the clipping, probably cause all the races i play clip every hat and back piece by default, so a toggle to have both would be great.
Please just make “show weapon on back” a separate flag and people make it how they want. As a small race hunter, 99% of bows are obviously too big for me and clip into the ground, and I’m forced to mog to wings or other special back mog so it at least doesn’t drag through the ground while I run.
It should be a toggle.
And few of the clipping issues apply to backpacks. I liked when I was able to have a backpack and the sword looked like it was behind it.
I had never even consider this. I only play tall races apparently.
They used to show weapons, then they got complaints about the weapons clipping and here we are.
