Let us queue for layer 8 of Torghast

As the title states, I don’t understand why we have to do layer 1-8 to fully clear Torghast rather than just clearing the highest difficulty right away. I understand that after the lower floors are cleared you can immediately queue 8 from then on, but it makes no sense.

It takes SO much time (I’ve spent my entire evening in Torghast on my alt and not actually doing what I want in the game) and it’s absolutely not fun. It has deterred me from any more alts until this is hopefully changed.

And I was super excited for alts this expansion bc of all the covenant armor sets etc. But when legendaries are completely necessary / required and Torghast is this awful to grind through, no thanks.

Please don’t make mandatory content this miserable and time consuming. I want to actually play the game in my free time. The souls aren’t the only things being tortured in that place, the players are too lol.

I agree.

Its kind of painful having to do every single layer for a peice of gear that is now far behind everyone else

I think if you’re taking a fresh L60 alt into Torghast at Layer 8, you’ll be complaining it’s too hard. If not, then why not just do 2 layers per week while your alt gears up. It was designed (at least in Beta) for item level 150 at Layer 3 and item level 180 at Layer 6… by extrapolation that’s item level 200 for Layer 8.

Those beta test item levels by layer might have come down with the recent nerfs on live, but what item level are these alts you want to jump straight into layer 8? I would think Blizzard wants to avoid the situation where you can queue into a layer higher than they intended because a friend is carrying you (or you paid for a carry).

for the love of god stop nerfing thorgast. it was a real challenge pre nerf, now its a joke. just quit nerfing it already just because people want to steam roll a 8 on a fresh 60 alt. geez

No one said anything about it being a fresh lvl 60 alt. Doesn’t matter if it’s a fresh 60 or a geared 60. Which btw it’s super easy to get geared enough to clear layer 8, takes a few days at the most. The difficulty of clearing it isn’t the issue. The amount of time it takes to clear 9 layers in total (1-8 and then another 8) is insane.

If I can’t clear 8 on an alt for whatever reason then I’d like the option to queue for 6 or 7 if that’s the max I can do, without having to clear 1 2 3 4 5 6 and 7 to do that. You’re missing the point entirely.

No one is asking for nerfs, just let us queue for the higher difficulty so we don’t have to waste our time getting to it. Some people have limited play time.

The time spent being the problem is more clear in your reply than your original post, but thanks for the clarification. You also said “I’d like the option to queue for 6 or 7 if that’s the max I can do” which is new information over your original post.

GD is useful for community discussion of an idea, but the devs rarely seem to act on what gets posted here. I’m submitting the following via the in-game suggestion feedback feature: “The automated queue for Torghast should have the item level of the lowest party member allow the group to queue to the appropriate layer (e.g., 120 for L2, 140 for L4, 160 for L6, and 180 for L8) rather than force a new (but well geared) alt to slog through layers 1-7 before being able to queue for L8. It’s easy enough to gear up an alt and if you’ve done it before you start Torghast runs, the current implementation feels like a punishment for having an alt.”

If you want change consider submitting your own feedback directly in-game (assuming you haven’t already).

I would think it’s common sense that if I’m wanting to be able to queue for floor 8 then 6 or 7 would be an option too but my bad for not making that more clear. Thank you for submitting the feedback though, I already have as well. I don’t think it should even be linked to ilvl. If you try a layer and it’s too difficult just hop out and jump to a lower one. I don’t think there should be locks on any of them. Just suggested ilvls if anything.

At least you don’t figuratively hate it.

It takes so much time.

Thats the point. Everything in SL is made to keep you in the game while doing nothing. It’s a scam.

Though I agree with his points, as a class that relies on roots and snares with no self heal I do find it funny when a paladin says torghast is easy.

  1. You are not meant to clear it all at once in one day. You can, but it takes too much time. You don’t have to spend an entire day on it.
  2. Item level is pretty irrelevant, I bought the 168 crafted blue, world quest staff and completed all 8 layers pretty easily.
  3. The only challenging aspect is RNG, and sometimes you may get very irrelevant anima powers. However, you can take it slow, eat, kill everything, cc and don’t overpull.
  4. Think ahead and if your class has anima powers that increase the income of phantasma, take it early on, it will payback. Purple anima or blue doesn’t mean the best. Don’t be afraid to waste your cooldowns on elites or large packs. Try to spec into shorter burst cooldown talents.
  5. Look for anima that diminishes layer affix, that half of success of any run.

If the time the only aspect that difficult for you, just don’t do Throgast on fresh alt in once sitting - simple.
I’ve tested Throgast on Alpha a lot when mobs literally could one-shot you on the first few layers and managed to get successful 72 layer runs anyway. It’s all about anima you get along the way and that also dictates the speed of the run.

The point is that your specific character hasnt proven capable of clearing 8.

You say “oh we’ll just clear the highest we can clear”.

Thats why you have to clear them 1 by 1. It determines what your level is.

And if your argument is “some people have limited playtime”, why are you trying to bis alts. Focus on you main if you pkaytime is so restricted.

Its fine the way it is. People juat have altoholic syndrome and wants skips for everything

It was never a real challenge just slow and boring, they need to make it faster and fun somehow like making the powers good maybe. This isn’t the mage tower just a poor weekly grind.
