Let us hide weapons when not in use

Did a quick check if anyone mentioned it recently but didn’t find anything. Transmog for the most part is a great mechanic. Most games do not do things as well as WoW does for fashion just to open up this discussion.

However there are still minor things i think could be better. There are so many weapons in this game that look amazing, but terrible on your back or side.

Like polearms. Many polearms are positioned really weird when on your back side, like the bottom of the handle will be positioned around your shoulders, so you just have this giant pike sticking out over your head. I never use any polearms that look terrible on my back for this reason.

Additionally swords, one of my favorites is the silent crusader. Beautiful icy sword. Would look amazing enchanted on any death knight but because its huge, it ends up dragging on the ground in an awkward manner whenever its sheathed.

Staves : I actually hate seeing staves on my caster classes. I would rather just see an empty back. It is a stat stick so i don’t know why it would matter if i see it or not. Thankfully there have been a few backpacks lately that hide weapons. But in some cases i would rather just have a cloak.

So i just propose. Let us hide it. On the transmog menu give us a little check box next to each weapon. If we uncheck the box, the weapon will be hidden unless we are wielding it. Seems reasonable no?

I just want the option to sheath 1h swords and axes on all classes.

I agree, most long weapons regardless of how well detailed or simply put, “Cool” looking, are an outright disaster when set on the back of our toon’s body. I worked very hard to find just the right combination of garments for my female elves to look brilliantly and stunningly beautiful. Having a “clunky” staff on their backside ruins the whole outfit.

I have discovered that there are a variety of “Back” gear pieces that work fairly, to excellently, well to hide the weapon when it is sheathed. Pressing “Z” to draw your weapon and place it in hand will let others see it, but it is gone entirely when sheathed.

My mages and priests use these Back pieces:

  • Selfless Sigil of the Archon
  • Selfless Wings of the Ascended (any of the Kyrian Covenant “Wings” are very nice, the whole back is open, wearing the heritage armor with a pony tail hair style is great!)
  • Emerald Wings of Awakening (any of these work, but you look like a succubus or Dracthyr)
  • Circlet of The Mother Tree (covers mid to upper back though, any of the variations work nice, it has a “swirling flames” animation)
  • and of course back packs, the Nightelf heritage bedrolls, and the newest "Coward’s Target, lol) these hide the weapon when sheathed, I would view a variety to see what works with your fashionable gear pieces.
