It took me a lot to grind the Conquest points to realize that i cannot upgrade them without being Combatant. Why?. I now have to stick with 200 ilevel when in M+ /raid you can get higher ilevel and i dont do that content.
Let upgrade them without being Combatant we are in the end of the patch.

The same argument was used in reverse too. PvP gear goes to 226/233, meanwhile M+ stops at 210 drops and 220 valor upgrades.
If you can’t get 1400 rating from RBG’s that’s a personal problem.
To Upgrade M+ gear…you have to reach certain achievs. So it’s similar.
207 at 1400 isn’t much different from 200… It’s 1600 and above that pvp gear really starts to compare with mythic nath gear in pvp.
Casual pvpers are really suffering this time around.

Those same players would also struggle with M+10s which unlocks 213 and 220 vault.
This is the biggest problem with PVP gearing, requiring rating to upgrade.
requiring people to accomplish something in-game to make better gear available to them is not a problem.
You can’t upgrade your raid gear, you need to defeat the next teir of bosses to get better versions. And in mythic+ you need to earn achievements by defeating greater difficulty to unlock upgrades.
So just like PvP, you have to do more than the base content if you want to upgrade and progress.
Agreed 100%. Everyone should be able to upgrade to good gear.
Giving huge gear advantages to better players in a competitive PvP environment is absolutely an enormous problem. The old devs agreed that it was an enormous problem and removed all rating requirements and posted a long blog about it.
I mean it’s cool for you I guess that we have D-tier devs that agree with your terrible viewpoint that ignores the basic concepts that apply to any PvP game and instead try to apply garbage PvE concepts to it, but it doesn’t make it any less of a problem.

Um, you’re presuming this is the only way to do this…I preferred PVP last expansion and it required work but it was FUN at least. I did PVP everyday, for several hours a day and I had no problems continuing to subscribe because it was enjoyable. Shadowlands has killed PVP the way they implemented it. Sure, you full-time arena junkies and people selling carries love it, of course you do.
So imagine theres only one level of pve difficulty, no lfr no heroic no mythic, only normal
So all pvers do their parses or whatever against each other on that one difficulty
The players who get the best parses get mythic gear
The players who do slightly less well get heroic gear
Then every other player who didn’t parse those first weeks gets normal gear to do normal pve content. Sounds fair
But, now for those players to get heroic or mythic gear, they need to parse higher than the players that have mythic and heroic gear. Its doable, but its not ideal
Thats basically what a pve gearing system is to pvp

End of the patch but not end of the expansion. If they do this now it’s going to feel terrible when S2 starts. You might get them to drop this requirement at the end of S4 or whatever the last PVP season of SL is.
Which “old devs” are you talking about? The ones that created the original honor system, the ones that later created arena and it’s tiered rewards? Let’s face it, PvP has had tier rewards based upon your performance far longer than it didn’t.
Its one thing to have 2-3 pieces rating locked
Its another to have 17
Gear based PvP is a meme.
It’s only had whole sets locked behind rating for three expansions, Legion, BFA and SL and one of those made gear irrelevant with templates and the other gave out heroic ilvl gear for opening crates in the world with war mode on, while also having scaling that basically negated gear differences. Sure, 2 seasons of TBC and 4 seasons of wrath had arena gear locked behind rating, but the honor gear was more than competitive. Vileroze got r1 in gear that was 2 seasons old. You couldn’t get r1 now in base conquest gear let alone get it in two seasons using this seasons base conquest gear.
The rest of the seasons either had no rating locks or only t2 weapons which was one slot. Your argument falls flat if you know literally anything about the history of PvP gearing in this game.
