I don’t know what is going on lately with LFG, but for the love of Zod, please let tanks pull! And if you think the first group they pull is too small, give them time. I know personally, I will pull a medium group the first time to see what kind of dps and healing I am dealing with. If we blast through it, great, I pull bigger. But don’t jump ahead and pull mobs and then expect me to pull them all off you before you die. I will sit there and watch.
People should expect the tank is taking them for a test drive at first, and let said tank ease in to them. Also how you can see what your healer is capable of.
Every tank should just let people know their name is buck, and they came here to fook.
My favorite is the dps pulling enemies we dont need to pull. And then getting life gripped by the shadow priest back to cleanup his mess.
What’s going on lately? Certainly not anyone pulling anything considering wow has been in maintenance all day and is probably going to get extended again
Don’t give them fodder
If it’s accidental pull, that is one thing. Sh** happens. But if they are pulling on purpose before the tank, and just running out tanking like they just don’t care, then I wouldn’t heal them, and the actual tank shouldn’t bail them out either.
I misdirect to my arch nemesis if he’s in my group. But, seriously, was in a recent Mythic with an impatient mage that just kept pulling the packs that the tnak wasn’t even going to.
I might be in the minority here… But I never mind if someone pulls for me as long as it doesn’t result in a wipe (Regarding M+/dungeons, not Raids obviously) and it helps with learning routes early on. All it takes is a swift taunt/cleave gcd to grab aggro with tanks threat being a joke now.
Now if someone pulls a pack that’s DEFINATELY not in the route rotation and far off from where you are, ya they’re taking a trip back to the entrance.
You’re gonna your pants when you start pushing competitive keys and find out it’s common and accepted for DPS to pull/help pull in some cases.
Especially in pugs, this might help more then you think as it could clue you in if their CD’s are up without having to type it out.
As a tank it’s your job in LFG to track teammate cooldowns and know what offensives people have and when.
People are pulling for you because you’re pulling groups that are too small and they won’t get value out of their buttons. Getting proper value out of CDs is paramount to timing keys and generally people having fun. If you’re pulling 3 mobs at a time like it’s TBC cause you’re 48 years old when people have CD’s that is your fault, not theirs.
If you don’t want to do your job properly don’t be mad at people for doing it for you.
My alt tank did one dungeon at level 63. The melee dps warrior skipped ahead to the next mob instead of dpsing the group I had pulled. I was like wtf as he promptly died yet my group was taking for ever to die. I just left and never played that tank again
They don’t ever stop pulling in my experience
As a very experienced tank, I know exactly what I am working with at all times. I have a lvl 70 alt of every class specifically so I know what to expect from whomever I am grouped with, including the healers. Like I said, let us pull. If I have a high level DH in my group or a Sub Rogue, you bet I am pulling big. If I have a mage or lock in the group, I am messaging them on the side for CC and CD.
My entire point is, assume your tank knows what they are doing and let them do it. If you see something off after a few mobs, say something. Don’t just start pulling for them. It can really screw up our strategy.
For example, Academy and bolstering this week. Normally, I would run through and pull the entire tree section and bring them back to the stairs. Easy crowd control and small area for the mobs to pop their AoE spells. But this week, I have to pull each group individually. Had a LFG where a hunter decided to pull it all for me and we ended up fighting a damn mega mosquito at the end for almost 5 minutes because he was so bolstered!
This man’s whole life is about to be ruined in M+
I’m split on this. You said LFG which suffers from a number of issues in itself. Things Blizzard needs to fix to discourage players from pulling more. I fear without their intervention nothing will get better.
Now if you’re in Mythic and players are pulling, you probably shouldn’t be in Mythic. That’s the hard content and your job is to move as quickly as possible. If they’re pulling odds are you can handle more, and they most likely know you can because they also played that class at that level.
I’d like to meet this Hunter. We could have fun creating megafauna in various keys.
Going through low level dungeons on alts in RDF, I’ve noticed this as well. People just run forward without any kind of thought. I get it, this is probably your 20th alt and you just wanna go go go but if your tank is trying to learn the class and get used to the buttons, it’s gonna be hard for them to learn.
Not to mention you’re probably making things go slower because you’re forcing the tank to play clean up and pull aggro from all over the place instead of letting them pull groups and maintain aggro from the start and keep them all together so they can be blasted down with AoE.
Just let the tank be the tank. Hunters and warlocks, turn off pet growl. Can’t believe this is still a problem in 2023.
Seriously. You should have seen the size of the mosquito! I thought we would never kill it.
One of my favorite things in a normal dungeon is watching the people that try to pull for me die.
I’ll protect them from a butt pull but if they’re being pushy a well-placed “one sec” is rather enjoyable
huh? this is not something dps should do in pugs. if you’re in a coordinated group that is expecting this it is also not the same thing as a hunter pew pewing a new pack with no misdirect in a normal leveling dungeon
You sound so sure of yourself here but you are fundamentally wrong. The dps may have cd’s up but the tank is monitoring the ability for the party to -survive-.
It is the job of DPS to adjust their cooldowns.
If the tank is pulling slowly then they are probably learning.
This game is not a JOB – lol – it is a GAME. Unless you are paying the tank to tank for you then honestly you shouldn’t say anything or be the tank yourself
