As of the people who play at the 95%+ yes Demo is going to be the best as it does have higher potential.
If you like the other specs play them. They are as good as you make them out to be. I run affliction and am pushing top 3 in dps in my raid group.

Affliction will be the stronger ST choice in 10.5. It will still have the problem of an inflexible talent tree being forced into aoe or ST at the cost of the other.
Demo will still be preferred in a lot of stuff because of the powerful cds and flexible damage profiles for burst ST and AoE in one build.
Destro just needs tuning to its low target aoe. It literally has a gap past 2 where havoc becomes less impressive and before rain of fire has enough targets to be strong.
Playing destruction in pvp is pure hell though. I tried, believe me.
I run affliction in my 10man raid and the 5 other DPS are frost mages. I destroy them - obviously affliction is fine.

Destro and aff geting buffs so hopfully they will be on par.
Its the start of the expansion. Blizzard has this thing where there nerf demo by the end of the expansion and have all demo lock quit the class of the game. Im sure affliction will be the top spec at the end of the expansion. That will never change.

The recent vids that maldiva uploads, explain so well the hell that destro have to suffer in pvp enviroments, i hope those ppls that doesnt play the spec and ensure that destro its good watch those vids and take their own conclussion
None of them are great. Don’t get your hope up.
For some reason, it’s perfectly acceptable to melee to deal more damage in instants than long cast time chaosbolts, while simultaneously maintaining 100% uptime through 100x gap closers and movement abilities and stunlocking/controlling their target from 100-0.
But the moment a warlock has even the slightest possibility of fighting back, the forums are flooded with outrage and tears.

first, he say i have no clue how to deal dmgs, then he actually undestood how to deal dmgs and he was top dmgs. Destro dmgs profile in pvp its really high as long as u stay alive.
the weird thing its that for now u need to cast RoF or CB to get those beffy incinerates, on 10,5 u jsut gonna spam Shadowburn and incinerate dmgs will be higher and would feel mor fluid, the spec its in a good place just need an ext ra tool to deal with melees and all good

Demonology has always been the most fun lock spec, it’s time to finally let it shine.
That is 100% dependent on the player. I personally dislike this style of demonology. We are forced to use 1 pet and the whole spec plays around a mini game that you have to figure out timing and min stacks to make the felhunters worth casting to what # of imps for implusion to be actually useful. just to many mini games in the spec

Ive watched when he fought against 2 dks, my bruh literally was flying around the map only pressing conflagrate, it was funny and sad at the same time
Watch Kalamazis latest video, there is big increase coming for afflic and destroy and it looks promising.
Aff won’t be strong until next patch.
they just got a good buff today… we might see more coming on 10.0.5 but i feel that this is a step in a better direction… kinda wish they would buff some of the other talents some to make a choice more important than kinda rocking the same builds
