Disabled corruptions (good thing), BUT essences are still there…? Why? Also, why should a returning player be able to level to 50 in 2 days, but then not be able to do mythic dungeons or the nya normal raid because of NO essences and NO catch-up gear?
What is the point? So… We are just supposed to get a bunch of characters to 50 and that’s it? Oh and by the way, you still are getting 15 minute queues as DPS using chromie time. Why not just create a queue for ANY expansion dungeon choice? How fun. It is only for a month right? Wrong. They have not even announced the release date of Shadowlands.
This is a great. Tail-end of the worst expansion ever created in WoW, maybe tied with WOD, and it STILL has not got better. STILL keep that barrier to entry as high as ever for a new or returning player. You still cannot compete with people who have cloak, essences, and high item level gear. Why not just give it away with catch-up quests ilvl 100 items. They will be useless the first quest into Shadowlands anyway. Allow people to enjoy and test on alts.
How would it harm your company or game in ANY way to do this?
I refunded Shadowlands already. There is 20 days left on my subscription. There better be some drastic changes in philosophy or I just do not see the point. I may end up buying Shadowlands and playing for a month or two just because, but they will not be seeing 2 years of subscriptions.

P.S. I have multiple 120’s that were higher ilvl and pathfinder before the prepatch with my highest being 475/aotc/1650 rating/15 cloak/all purple essences/etc. Contrary to the belief of the weirdboys that want to feel special by being better than others in a video game, I am not lazy or want handouts. I just want to be able to experiment different classes and builds in semi-difficult content without having to invest 3-4 days of doing the same world quests and nonsense I did throughout the expansion. It does not take 150 IQ to understand this, but you know, apparently it does.
I mean… Alliance can’t even start the BFA campaign right now unless you pick Exile Reach at Level 10.
After you hit 15 minutes the que asks if you want to open dungeons to all expansions. I personally see no problem keeping it xpac specific and then opening it up.
Sounds like you want free stuff that people actually worked for. what do you expect to just get everything free when you come back, they already give people a ton of crap that people worked for. welcome to systems and grinding stuff SL will be no different if people leave and come back near the end going to be behind in something.
I understand this is probably too complex for you to get, but all that “stuff” will be moot one hour into shadowlands. Therefore, it is virtually moot at this moment. This just allows people to at least be able to hit 50, slam some catch-up gear quests, then try out mythic dungeons… To see which class feels best in sort of difficult content.
It would allow new or returning players to enjoy the game for the period of time during the ended expansion and the release of the next. If you are so anti-other people enjoying themselves, then so be it.
It would not impact you or blizzard in any real way.
I completely agree, I was going to level up my SL main, and do some PvP or something before SL drops, but there is literally 0 catch up mechanics in for prepatch, even the event thats coming is garbage gear.
You hit 50, can’t do anything besides grind essences/echos/heart levels. While getting declined from every m+ or getting one shot in PvP.
Hell at this rate I probably won’t even log in and level my SL main until a week before launch.
Even then how long will I play, people are already requiring you to watch guides for the new dungeons IN BETA. Probably going to get roasted day 1 of SL for not having watched a guide for the very first dungeon.
i understand it fine, you took a break and don’t have stuff other people have, will be the same in SL, why should i punished cause you took a break, there’s actually people doing higher keys and raids still so ya. welcome to systems and taking breaks. don’t come in here with an attitude when people still need this stuff to complete what they are doing, you took the break.
Yeah. Some people claim it isn’t fair to for catch-up gear. They are confusing it with real life. We are not advocating to be paid in real life to do nothing. We are asking for video game items when everything will be wiped clean in one month anyway. For us to test builds.
its pretty easy when your pushing really high keys or whatever raid you still need why people got. it’s pretty simple to understand whats so hard about it?
The problem with this attitude is that players who come back to the game or join it late find that basically what they did was pay real money for a scam. They were told in the marketing text that they should buy this game and play it because it would be fun to play, only to find out they were not only permanently blocked from playing the end game they were suckered into buying it for, but the community is trash because of players like you who support that scam and blame your victims.
In the last season of wod I was able to level a character up to 100, put them into PvP, and get a full set of honor gear in a day or two, then start earning conquest gear.
“It sucked for me but I want it to suck even worse for you because I’m a crappy excuse for a human being” is the equivalent of “I want to make this game into a single player game so I don’t have to tolerate the existence of other people”.
I hear your vent and I am sorry for your frustration. I have six days left in my sub and go back and forth on cancelling.
However, I personally think they should concentrate on cleaning up the mess the level squish, chromie time and universal scaling caused before making the pre-patch easier to play for returning players. But to each there own.
How did you get that from what I said? Getting into top level PvP/Raids/Mythic+ should take some effort but not literally LONGER THAN THE TIME BETWEEN PATCHES.
Welp. You answered my question in a different way. You showed me that logic is not the friend of emotion. You are emotionally driven. Gate-keeping fun in a video game because you are emotionally and time invested into it. Opting to prevent fun for others, to make yourself feel more, what, superior?
It would be like you saying you don’t want others to have healthcare for free, because you paid for yours. Well, sorry sonny jim, it happens daily in real life. Not wanting others to have something because it will make you feel less special is just a selfish way to think.
well people who buy shadowlands should look it up before buying, it is systems and grinding, third expansion like this, nothing is changing, if you don’t want to play much you are just going to be behind. it’s an mmo and the majority i play, you get behind if not playing, what mmo’s are all about since they came out.
