Let hunter pets be cosmetic again

Retail in every way has more customizations then ever. Yet, for some odd reason classic (a version of wow over 14 years old) has more versatility when it comes to hunter pets, and its not even remotely close.

In Cataclysm you can tame any pet and then choose the specialization you want it to be. In retail you choose a pet based off their specialization. Why was this ever changed? Why does a pet system from 14 years ago blow what retail has out of the water?

Just let me choose a pet based off their looks. Having near mandatory abilities like mortal strike effects tied to pet families should not be a thing. It ruins the hunter fantasy, and relegates hunter pets to tools you use instead of the companions they should be.

They’re bringing back the optional pet specs in 11.1.

Too bad if you play marksmanship though. You get bird spec only.

Wait they are?

Well I guess we can go home then. Now if they can just not force Mark to only use an eagle.

You will use the officially sanctioned pet and you will like it! Dev knows best!

Yeah for some reason they tucked it away in the patch notes under UI changes rather than hunter class changes.
