Let every race be every class

Yeah but grunt isn’t available to everyone, and it got simplified into a class that everyone can be. That’s my point. And way to be as slanderous as you can with that video, good on you, I’m just trying to have a conversation in here.

I in no way said 'This is my thoughts on Queak" I said “this is my thought on the idea”.

“And the people who voice it.” Come on, it was a pretty obvious jab at the people who support the idea and not just the idea.

Nor did I say that. I said I thought the idea strikes me as being tantamount to a tantrum with how often it comes up just to have to repeat all the reasons its a bad idea.

Outside of the racial bonuses and abilities, I agree. The devs could focus on racial backgrounds a bit more, imo. I feel like there is a lot of that in the game already, but it isn’t highlighted or complete in most cases. They could flesh out the racial stories/conflicts, and make a specific quest line for each race that overlaps with the regional quests, and then slap a big fancy icon on the quest type, like they do with Shadowlands campaign quests.

Then just say that.

Sadly they dont seem to matter and have not for a very long time.

In their current iteration that’s true, and in general I don’t think I would like Blizz to try and make the traits strong enough to significantly matter because frankly I don’t trust them to do so.

Yeah not quite what I meant. I’m getting the vibe that people think I mean that the currently existing traits should be buffed in their current functionality or something. However, ultimately, yeah that exact scenario could be cool as long as every race has something that is comparatively powerful. You’d feel like your race, and that being your race matters.

What I really mean by saying that racial differences should matter is something more like how DnD works. 5e has done a brilliant job in making your race choice matter and have an impact on your class choice, and every race can be realistically viable as any class even in a min/maxing setting. The easiest takeaway there is the simple stat changes.

No.

This games lore is not concrete or small enough for this to be true anymore, it also expands every time we beat back a world ending threat.

There’s a Murloc Demon Hunter, like lets get real, anyone can be taught to be anything.

Uniqueness is just another word for restrictive, and in an MMO, that is boring.

whiners are always going to whine about something :woman_shrugging:

I think its safe to cancel that term out of our equation.

We are PCs.

We are literally the exception to every rule in WoW.

We’re killed? Didn’t count/Spirit Healer loves us/Made a deal with Bwonsamdi.
Other characters in the world? We’re literally the best at what we do, per the game’s own script (Legion).
Maw’s Inescapable? Nah, we’ve got that Special Sauce™ that lets us slip free with zero effort other than touching a stone for a bit.

We are the exception in literally every other way than the one that actually MAKES SENSE, being able to be any class.

Class restrictions make zero sense because any class can be taught, plain and simple. The lore is made FAR more interesting BY the fact that exceptions can exist, not cheapened by it. Remember, Void Elves are supposed to be a ‘crack squad’, yet they number easily in the hundreds if not thousands. Kul Tirans fielded Paladins in the prior Wars, but what, slipped on a rock/drank too much booze/whatever dumb reason might exist and just FORGOT how to Paladin?

Get real. Open all classes to all races.

Ideally, any race should be able to “try” to be any class. It’s unrealistic otherwise, imo. They may not have the inherent power or spirit or whatever, and that would be reflected in their performance.

The reality is that the dev team cant be trusted to balance it, and the community can’t be trusted to see value in less-than-best racial choices. Some new player will choose an undead paladin, despite the big red warning flag, and then complain that their healing spells are 10% weaker, for example.

I love how common these responses are. You’re welcome to say whatever you want I suppose, but what’s the point in even bothering with this?

i love all the choices i have as a druid: troll, reskinned troll, cow, and reskinned cow with moose antlers.

wait no…

at the very least, vulpera druids pls.

All the more reason to hang on to the few things that actually make our characters feel like they’re part of the culture of the world.

The culture is COOKIE CUTTER for all of its members. The culture would actually be made MORE important by members capable of flaunting it.

Because it’s been requested so many times, and it’s not worth explaining why every single time when the answer is obvious. It’s part of the lore, and some combinations are simply impossible or not part of the culture to happen in the first place. Those that disagree are simply incorrect.

No, the culture would mean less to our character if they lived completely uninfluenced by it.

Yes, because the story of a Tauren that endeavored to become a Mage because they were left starry-eyed by magical displays and managed to prove herself to domineering Blood Elf tutors is a dumb one.

Oh, wait, no, it’s literally incredibly interesting BECAUSE it’s stepping outside of the ‘noble savage’ box Tauren have been placed in.
