Let anyone use Mage Portals

If the Mage doesn’t want to share, they can use a teleport spell instead. On my Mage I just find myself wishing I could leave portals or food around for anyone to use and benefit from.

Let us be nice!

For people that sell or want to restrict portals, give them a glyph.

You’re a nice person. As a result you probably don’t realise the reason why this has never and will never be allowed is due to the obvious griefing that will ensue should mage portals ever be allowed to be interacted with outside of a group.

Wanna check your mail? See you at the bottom of Ancient Dalaran crater. Same for AH, bank, quest NPCs etc etc. It’s the same reason why all characters have noclip enabled between each other. Anyone remember when this was switched off? Remember the first thing that happened? That’s right. No more AH for you

Mages would drop old Dalaran portals everywhere.

I would leave Dalaran crater portals everywhere on my mage if this ever became a thing.

So literally disable it for the ONE that can be used to troll. Or add a dialog box.

Dal crater was just an example, a slightly less satisfying effect can be had by porting you anywhere else too. As for dialogue boxes, they wouldn’t help as much as you would think since whilst it may prevent the port, you still wouldn’t be able to access the mailbox.

At least it will stop you from porting into a place you don’t want to be in. It makes the issue 50% less annoying to deal with, personally speaking.

I think the dialog boxes should come with a 3 second delay before you can click yes to where you are going.

I also think there should be a button where if you press it, you can click though the portals and players. (Meaning if you press down something like “Shift”, the game will recognize that and make the players, and their portals and summon stones excluded from being clicked on.)

Because people would be trolls and put portals everywhere and break a ton of things like the AH. Like every troll would sit the AH and spam ports to make it as miserable as possible to try and buy anything. Then laugh when they kill someone with the crater portal or teleport them somewhere random. Food in my opinion would be fine though given the tables are harder to be disruptive in my opinion. Yet I can guarantee trolls will still summon them in mailboxes and so forth just to be a pain. It nice to see you being caring and nice, yet trolls will turn that into a awful thing rapidly sadly.

would be cool in theory by not in practice. Plus we have a thousand and one different portal and teleports available to use through items and portal rooms.

The only places i can think of right off that a mage can get to that i couldnt is stonard (for horde), Dalaran crater, and the shrines at vale. though in the case of vale I have a slightly less convenient option in the jade forest.

I’ve often wished I could leave stuff I don’t want on the ground for some one else to pick up - like a piece of armor, a weapon, food, or resources I don’t want.

Yeah I thought that was a good idea until I read the replies on here and see why it probably isn’t the best idea sadly.

Wait… Mages can’t share their portals? I’ve been leveling with my boyfriend until two days ago and I would often open a portal, wait for him to go through it, and then use it myself. I don’t think it disappears unless you use it. I’ve also opened portals for people who wanted to go to a capital while leveling in a zone.

I might be missing your point though.

Mage ports only work for the mage and those grouped with them (the reason being due to the inevitable griefing that would occur if this was not the case). No one else. You don’t need to wait for your group member to use it before using it yourself.

On griefing, a few points.

  1. You can already have someone looking for a port join a group and send them to Dalaran crater. But I’ve literally never seen it done.

  2. You can ALREADY put a portal in front of things and make it so people can’t click on them, yet that also never happens.

  3. On the dialog box, simply make a yes, no, or ignore button. If you press ignore, you get a buff you can dispel that makes it impossible to interact with player portals and you can click through them.

Remember, if you solve all your problems with a chainsaw, you’ll never have the same problem twice!

Nah, I’d pick Stonard. A fate worse than death.

but the very nature of it becoming “free” would disrupt the expectation and order of things.

idea, can scribes sell mage portals in scroll form?

but if locks could give free cookies i would be happy to take a few

There was some thing Blizz added, I forgot what it was but players could drop it and it would block you from running through it and of course, AH doorway blocked lol.

All portals are troll portals if they send you somewhere you don’t want to go.

A viable option :+1: immersion people won’t like it though

LOL,let us mages then put ancient Dalaran portal everywhere. That’ll do just fine. Most mages give freely but this would make them not help anyone at all.Btw,then there wouldn’t be a purpose for a mage at all.

Neeeegative. No need for this. It’ll get out of hand waaaayyyyy too quick. People WILL be immature about it. As a mage main, people whisper me here and there asking for a port. Tip or not, I’m happy to port people. All ya gotta do is ask. People, don’t be afraid to ask us mages for a port! : D It’s okay!

But on the plus side… Eventually dalaran crater will fill up with corpses and no longer be a crater
