Lesson Learned

Well my first mistake was to take all my level 50’s into SL at the same time one at a time to Bastion and so forth. Then I finally just stayed with my main and took to 60 but waited a long time before finishing revendreath. So I had my BS just starting revendreath at level 58 and level 53 in Maldraxxus and a bunch of level 51’s in bastion. So once I completed my main and picked a covenant I logged into my level 58 alt and got sent back to Oribos for Threads of Fate. Since I was almost done and needed to mine some more nodes I decided to just complete the storyline. Thing I didn’t know is that one decision affected all my other alts. Now they get the thread of fate quest and all they get is credit for completing the quest. They all now must complete the story line. So that one decision for my first alt affected all my alts and can’t be undone. Lesson learned. Now I also noticed that I no longer have to start in the maw. What a relief. Except for one thing. Most of my toons were level 51 when entering Bastion. And they have to be level 53 to start the last chapter to get out of Bastion. So now I have to make up a level grinding in Bastion or doing dailies in Thunder Bluff to compensate. I did send my new level 50 DH to the maw just to get that extra level. I got my tailor to the last chapter and was 12k exp short. No problem, sent her back to Thunder Bluff for daily fishing and cooking quest, Level 53 and now she can continue. But I definitely learned some lessons. The first to only play one toon up to max level at a time. And to think about that first thread of fate quest on the first alt because that answer affects all your alts. You can’t just take some through and skip with the others. So I will live with my mistakes and continue to enjoy the game. Just hope this helps others to avoid the mistakes I made.

Uh, I don’t know what’s going on here my person, but I currently have about 12 60s and this hasn’t happened at all. You make your choice after your first 60 as soon as you enter Oribos from the Maw. If you choose story you can go threads at anytime, if you choose ToF you are locked in. If all your alts were locked to ToF it’s because you chose that in Oribos

I don’t know if I misunderstood this. But no, you actually choose each characters journey every time.

like I said lesson learned. I made a decision that affected all my alts without actually knowing what that decision was. I entered without the knowledge I needed to make the decision in the first place. My fault. But then again I have avoided SL like the plague during the past year.

Well, not trying to be mean, but in the future if the game makes you type something in for each alt, you might want to read what the dude is asking closer.

you aren’t being mean at all. I was just trying to pass some info for some newbie to help them not make the same mistake.

Choosing how you level on one alt shouldn’t affect how you level on others. I know since I’ve leveled like 30 something toons to 60. Either you’re confused or there’s a bug :grimacing:

well so far only one alt has been asked to choose how to continue. All my others that responded to Threads of Fate quest just got quest completed and off they go to continue on with the story lines.

Well I decided to do my research and according to WOWhead if I want to change the decision all I have to do is go back. Took my alt back and didn’t get the option to change the decision. My BS is where I quit playing my main about 6 months ago before coming back and almost level 60. So I guess I’ll live with what decision I originally made and take all my alts through the complete story line for leveling.

well I guess my gameplay on my main is dead. I got my covenant and my first covenant calling. Instead of doing the calling quest I logged out and played my other toons for the past week. Now all that shows is the calling that I can’t abandon and the 3 world quests don’t exist since a calling is only good for a day. So looks like I might as well work on alts. My main is dead. Man I really hate shadowlands.

That problem solved, I just went back to Oribos and changed covenants. Did the quests up to the first calling and took a break. Left my toon in front of the quest giver so at least I have a place to start when I want to play my main. But I still don’t like this whole SL setup or anything about the xpac.
