To this I say: why not both, leave this one as the ‘mythic’ version for og MT unlocks (which is what people wanted from them bringing it back) and then a seriously nerfed version for the new stuff so the majority still get content with rewards.
The ‘elites’ will still be able to ‘flex’ (seriously don’t get why people need to do this, the only ‘flex’ I really was doing was /flex or by just taking time with mogs to make rather cohesive looks without using a singular set) and the ‘plebs’ (ie casual players that don’t like to play superseriousomghe’shaxors.avi type sweaty) still get something too.
And that is a stupid state for it to be in with a declining player base, bad will for the company in general, and no longer being the ‘market leader’ for MMO type games, ESPECIALLY when putting MT as the center stage for marketing of new content during a massive content drought that’s, honestly, a bigger drought than WoD ever had.
Actually it’s not a big difference, because that would be a major red flag either way. Either you have something 97% of players either can’t complete or are not interacting with, or something that 97% of players attempting it can’t complete, which means even smaller numbers for interaction. Either way is a failure to create content engaging to the player base. It would also be worth noting that completion numbers will be inflated by easier challenges like Fury, which I see you did, and not indicative of the overall numbers.
Is just insignificant older content, if they made it easier people would be done with it in 1 day and move on. The current difficulty makes it a better experience and it keeps people more engage, at least the ones that are not afraid of failure and dont mind improving.
Just because the completion rate is low(even if OP numbers are way off, they are probably still relatively low), it doesn’t mean that is the amount of people doing it. Participation is going to be higher than clear rate, especially when it comes to hard content.
Further frustrating and already frustrated player base does not make something better.
I made 132 to attempts at it, only was able to get through p1 on guardian once (all attempts were done before the aura space nerf and the ‘you can interrupt on wind ups now’ change) and got so disgusted with it, and how for the past few years the game has felt more and more and more like an abusive relationship that is just…shut down my b-net launcher for the first time in 6 years and it’s not been launched since.
Before I even touched it, I did look up guides, but those were all from the PTR, they looked like they’d be tight, but doable. Then bliz decided, in their infinitely deficient idiocy to shadow buff EVERYTHING between ptr and live, doubling/tripling the health and or damage on somethings and putting it out like we currently have it.
I got what I wanted from the new release of the mage tower. I did want the book mount, but then I saw the ugly orb animation associated with it. Anyways, what I want to see now is Blizzard nerf the tower and enjoy the meltdowns in the Gitgud™ echo chambers.
Frustrating? Is called playing the game, you wipe and improve. That is the nature of challenging content in a MMO, if you dont like it then that sort of content is just not for you. Making it easier would invalidate the point of even releasing it in the first place, there would be no meat for content like that, the main appeal of a challenge is getting better wipe after wipe.
It was beyond easy in the PTR, now is a reasonable challenge.
They said, “Well at least it’s something to do.” Until they found out, not really.
Anybody could have predicted that expecting the average player to wipe hundreds of times and magically git gud would have been a failure at a retention strategy. Well, anybody using a reality-based thought process. But hey, at least you got your bling.
this is a good point not many people bring up. if mage tower was easier, it would be throwaway content. you log in, to a few attempts, get your goodies, and never think about it again.
that doesn’t seem to honor the nature of what the towers were originally in legion. at least before antorus released.
The numbers are probably that low because the rewards are crap more so than the challenge being too difficult.
I only did the guardian druid one to get the new skin and cant be bothered with the rest cos reskins of tier armor is not a good enough reward for me.
I did not play druid in legion so I missed out on the weapon skins even though I have the artifact skins for all specs on my warrior/rogue and priest which I do not play anymore.
If they made a recolor of the weapon skins I would definitely do the feral and boomy challenges but at the moment there is ZERO incentive.
That line of elitist thinking is wrong. You are the kind of player that has helped drag the game down. WoW is in such a poor state they can’t afford to be releasing content not everyone can do. Especially old content artificially increased in difficulty beyond what it originally was. Gear is scaled down, there is no outgearing it, only cheese resulting from their shorsighted number squishes, or hoping your class had some of the easier ones. EVERYONE should be able to complete it if they learn and execute the mechanics properly instead of being subjected to mechanics that their class lost the proper means to deal with from pruning, or things not working properly. But then there’s elitists who want to hold it over others and rub it in their faces. This should’ve been an easy win for Blizzard, but they screwed it up.
I beat the ones I cared about within the 2nd day. I have my transmogs, and it won’t take anything away from me to see other people happy to get theirs. You need to get over yourselves; it’s a game, and a dying one at that.
Bliz has been calling any one clearing Bear Tower in less that 100 attemps and ‘elite player’ on Twitter. If it were 20-30 tries for the majority to clear, I doubt you’d see even a fiftieth as many MT posts.
If you look above, I commented I made 132 attempts myself, with enchants, socket gear, flasks, the works and only was able to squeak on clear of p1 before getting so disgusted with it that it became the straw that broke the camels back and I stopped even launching the b-net client.
