Less customization posts

I’ve been scrolling through for awhile to see if anybody had any gameplay feedback, such as, the flawed covenant system, which really is a massive problem that could ruin SL. Yet, as I scrolled, an absurd amount of posts were either “Customization for (insert race)” or “Suggestions for (insert race) customization”.

The reason this annoys me is because the customization is literally not a problem in the slightest right now. If these posts are all the flood the forums, the people talking about gameplay issues (which is what truly matters when it comes to making a game good) gets drowned out by all of these posts talking about the pretty hairstyles and jewels they want for their race.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for the customization, I think WoW has lacked in that department for years, but I just don’t think it’s that big of an issue to constantly post on the forums about.

Customization is a part of gameplay. People complain about other forms of gameplay as well. Nothing will be drowned out. Blizzard can look at all posts.

I’d argue that it is not a part of the gameplay in the same sense as systems, gearing, and abilities are. While yes, it is technically a part of the gameplay, I say it’s a little more secondary, when it comes to the enjoyment of actually playing the game.

You must not have been here for long. Covenants were a pretty popular topic for a while. A lot of it died down ~2 weeks ago when they posted their development update that basically said they have no interest in changing covenants and wouldn’t be able to do it quickly anyways. Prior to that, people who weren’t happy with them thought that there might be a chance to get Blizz to fix them in a timely manner.

Well, if people care more about customizations then people can talk about it.

it’s a form of gameplay that people care about and enjoy. It’s okay for there to be posts about customizations as well as gearing and covenants. Blizzard looks at all of it, I think.

for you. Not others. besides aesthetic is going to last much longer than any of these borrowed systems. customizations are finally getting some attention now is the exact time to make customization threads of what people want for their characters.

It’s one of the new features in Shadowlands, why wouldn’t we talk about it? Obviously it’s pretty important to people if there is this much talk about it.

Yeah, covenants and the issues with their implementation have been a constant hot topic here for ages. Then Blizzard said “we don’t care, might reconsider later if enough people quit.” Still a big topic, but between that and people just getting tired of repeating the same issues with no results, it’s died down a little.

That’s why you see other stuff more now, and stuff like customization options are pretty important to a certain crowd. There’s a surprising amount of people who play games like WoW almost solely for vanity and vanity collections.

Here’s the problem with this though. The customization is the only thing we really have any form of feedback worth giving on at this point. Every single problem involving soulbinds and covenants has already been talked about. Blizzard has already shown they do not agree with us. We can at least provide feedback on the thing we might have some kind of impact on.

Rangari. Grimtotem. Broken. Satyrs. And the fact that stealth is Shadow magic. The hooves argument is not valid.

Well I’m not in beta so how can I have an opinion on the gameplay?

World of warcraft is lacking in this even with all these updates, and if you don’t think so you don’t play video games except world of warcraft.

I think it’s important to review and consider that what might not be important for you may be important for another player.

Some of those same players might be satisfied with thier gameplay.

Scrolling here in GD or on the beta/ptr forums?

I play many different video games. While WoW’s customization isn’t amazing, it’s still better than several games I have played. Obviously, comparing it to games like Oblivion and Black Desert will very quickly make it look bad. The reason I don’t think it’s a massive problem is because, a game can have amazing in depth customization, but the gameplay itself can still be horrible.

You are right about the customization post flood. They are excessive.

I find myself saying the same thing that came back from the Secret World: Legends beta testing. They had a locked reticle that pretty much everyone hated. Funcom’s response was that the reticle stays; talk about something else or get banned.

The covenant system is the Dev teams reticle. It is staying not matter what… At least for the first year of Shadowlands most likely.
