I have been playing wow for a while now since college. I stopped when I was raising my kids, but now I’m back. I’m playing with my 10 yr daughter, WOW became one of our bonding time. We we’re so excited when we saw that the sparkling kitty available, albeit it being a bug. She was happy she when she was able to play with the sparkling kitty appearance, but as we all know, blizzard took that away and she’s not having as much fun on her druid. On the other hand, as a DK main, I was looking forward to buy the bonesteeds in Lemix. I bought right after the maintenance on Tuesday, and now found it they took away flying, and I’m really mad at this to the point I’m writing this post. Blizzard knows it very that transmog is the real end game.
A game is supposed to be fun, I don’t understand why Blizzard continues to piss of its player base. Why can’t they give players what they want !? Not to regurgitate what a lot of people said, but there’s a huge demand for the mage tower appearance to comeback. This bug is proof that they can just bring the appearances easily. They can just add recolors and different avenues to get it e.g. Mage tower, trading post, or the cash shop.
I worked for one of the big cloud providers and now for one for the Big 4 consulting, and there is always emphasis on customer satisfaction from my experience. The customer is always right, and we did our best to give our clients the best experience as possible. I don’t understand why Blizzard doesn’t have this mindset.
Sorry for the rant, but I can’t help my self being pissed of while playing the game. I’ll probably stop playing for a while. Playing while not having fun in a game is not healthy. And also Blizz Rexxar is a beastmaster and not survival and BM’s should be melee.
The Bonesteed thing frustrates me to no end. There’s literally no reason for them to not be flying mounts. Like, they just saw that they did something right, and had to revoke it because they hate fun
Many years ago I was working in restaurants and I noticed something. The good restaurants didn’t have sharp edges that your clothing (and skin) could get snagged on. The managers cared enough to set things up in a way that you wouldn’t regularly get gouged from reaching under the bar into the bar sink.
Blizzard operates without dealing with the sharp edges. There are so many times where as a player one just gets totally screwed. I’m not sure if it is because they don’t care, or they don’t try, but it is a big reason why I don’t spend so much time in this game anymore. And when I do .. I get frustrated and start browsing the forums.
You’re absolutely right on that point — I completely agree.
Originally, my stance was that Druids shouldn’t be able to obtain that skin because they hadn’t “earned” it during the original event. But after spending a lot of time reading through X (Twitter) and Reddit discussions, it became clear how deeply emotionally invested players are in these appearances.
That changed my perspective.
I took a step back and looked at my own experience — specifically at the Protection Warrior skin — and realized how much it could mean for my character. If Mage Tower skins were made available again, it would genuinely strengthen my connection to my Orc Warrior and reignite my desire to play. Between my Hellscream transmog, Horde motorbike, and other elements of my character’s identity, everything would tie together perfectly.
That’s the heart of my view now.
If Blizzard truly considered how these appearances drive emotional engagement, this could be a massive win for them. Players wouldn’t just feel connected to the game — they’d feel connected to their class, their hero. That level of investment builds long-term loyalty.
At the end of the day, no one plays Druid, Warrior, or Death Knight because of patch notes or balance changes. We play because we love our class. Rewarding that passion benefits everyone — especially Blizzard.
Except in this case, the customers continue to pay for the service even tho they’re unhappy. So the cost risk assessment works in Blizzard’s favor. Why cave to player pressure when the $$ continues to roll in regardless?
Blizzard is respecting the players who actually put in the time to earn those skins. So they currently are not taking any sides because they don’t want to do any favors which is a fair stand
I understand we all think that blizzard is always about money. But have you considered that they are in the business of selling games and expansion ?
So generating revenue is the core part of keeping the light on.
Now going back to the skins. I feel after 10 years and multiple posts. Blizzard has reached a point where they would benefit from this. Not lose.
Well I know and they do a lot of shady stuff like with the server merges. But thats a whole other story, the truth still stands though that they can but chose not to. If anything people get it in classic as last resort which is why I said that
If I was to guess the loss would be the ability to use the “it’s going away when the xpac ends” tactic for any future Mage Tower type content. No one would believe them.
I want a NEW Mage Tower type event that lasts the whole x-pac and designed for every spec with new, more modern skins. Some of the MT skins are pretty meh and the MT was made for its time with Lego’s and class design of that era.
And I’d want it and the rewards to go away afterwards.
I didn’t even know it could fly. I just assumed they were normal ground mounds like most other undead horses. I’d be willing to bet that it was a mistake and that’s why it was removed in the first place
Not sure why they keep releasing ground mounts only considering this game will never go back to ground only expansions or patches and if they tried all their social medias would be in flames. This seems to be yet another mistake from whoever is managing this event
Really sorry Blizz’s (poor) decisions have soured you and your daughter’s experience with the game. I’m personally upsetti about the bonesteeds (actually what compelled me to post on the forums for the first time maybe ever, and I’ve played on and off since vanilla) because of the utter lack of communication. As it stands, it’s just a bait and switch without even an apology. Even if they were never meant to fly and that was a mistake, they were marked as flying before Remix dropped and all through phase one. People had expectations, and then the mounts flying for a full day before they stealth changed it live without so much as a word. It’s a bad look.
I’ve got no skin in the druid form game but I don’t understand why they don’t make them obtainable for people at this point. It’s been what, a decade? It’s not a sign of “prestige” to have them; it just means you got into the game earlier than other people/were active at a time they weren’t. That’s not an achievement or something to take pride in, that’s just circumstance. Give newer players a shot to earn them, too.
Fully understand wanting to step back because of this stuff. Hope you and your daughter have fun in whatever y’all pick up next.
Now with skyriding you could still use a ground mount as ground mount despite then unless you double tap space bar so its not really too far off. No idea why they put it out but I am not using these steeds either I just know we have flying unicorns and a flying tiger..
