Just leveling a character through the legion zones. This expac was just so much fun. The class fantasy explored with orderhalls and more. The Zones looked so unique and the music complimented them perfectly. The questing wasn’t terrible and chorey.
I feel like Blizz have been riding on the coattails of Legion but haven’t been able to achieve its same level of authenticity. I am truly hoping that beginning with 9.1 we can start seeing Shadowlands flourish and become the expac it needs to be.

Eh… some rose tinted goggles there.
Most of the systems I hated about BFA and now SL originated with Legion. You are ignoring early legendary acquisition, running to order hall to turn in the AP tokens, etc.
There was more to do and more things to collect … so yeah from that regard it was more fun. However, early Legion progression systems were pretty terrible.

I mean that’s kind of what I meant about Blizz riding on the coattails of legion. It feels like they just never branched away from it. But while it was there originally it was awesome. At least in my opinion

The old expansions are great once you remove all the waiting and restrictions, and have a complete storyline, imo.

Legion was the expansion I had the most fun making alts. Each class was so unique with their own Halls, storylines and weapons

I made a lot of alts in BfA and never seemed to tire of leveling and playing them. I made alts just for a single spec even.
Now? I leveled a few, but they mostly hang around the command table and do little else. I hate the Maw and Boreghast, so chaining another realm to that tire fire has no appeal. This might finally be the wedge of boredom I need to peel myself away from this game.

Legion had some cool ideas and pros, but it had flaws too. If you asked the general opinion back then it was the same rhetoric we see now on the forums. WoW burning to the ground, everything is terrible. By 7.3 it became ok to be fondly remembered somehow.
The systems in particular were more of the controversy. It’s very enjoyable now because most of those are gone or don’t matter so you can just play on the ride. But WoW always has great zones and music!

It became fun. Classes were good and gcd was great and defensive and offensive cool downs had no gcd.
The legendary acquisition held it back for along time along with artifact knowledge. But they did get it sorted out. Though introducing mob scaling has been a travesty.

Legion was fun during the last patch. Alts were easy to catch up. Legendaries were able to be targeted. Actual content to do.

Class halls were/are a great idea.
But most of the zones in Legion are way worse than SL to get around in if you don’t have flying, and you were locked in to a single weapon for the entire expansion.
And, then, of course, there was the whole profession questing thing. I don’t mind some special items only being available via questing, but Legion was ridiculous like that.

legion is probably my second favorite expansion, behind only wrath. the class halls were brilliantly done, and so were artifacts, with the exception being the artifact power part of it. but the idea of having a legendary weapon that sort of grows with you in power with special effects or things you can choose, along with unique skins you could collect, was a great idea. suramar was a fantastic questing experience overall and the story in the expansion was good. the raid class sets were incredible. i didn’t have too many complaints honestly

I sing Legion’s praises but I am well aware that only the back half of it was great and the very beginning was super tedious.

This. The time-gating is so obviously there and bad. The only time gates there should be is waiting for the next content patch. Not questlines, rep, etc. If you want to play 24 hours a day and unlock everything and grind all the reps you should be able to do that.
Ah yes when each Broken shore quest was available only after waiting a week

I think Legion was great if you took the first patch at an even pace (like I did), because by the time you got to the rough spots they’d already been fixed. From what I heard the hit-cap-at-warp-speed crowd had a hard time in Legion though.

Legion would have been great if the legendary vendor had been put into the game at the start and if there were a way to exchange legendaries.
Everything world content wise after Broken Shore was chorey. The raids were all great. Really, the primary issue with Legion was just in how the legendaries were handled. Everything else was amazing, and possibly the best WoW has ever done.
Also the timegating of Suramar was frustrating originally as well.

Legion had so many fantastic features.
- Class order hall. A whole storyline related to your class, complete with a unique xmog set to collect as well as a class title.
- Class Mounts
- Over a dozen artifact appearances to collect
- Meaningful single-player endgame progression with permanent, long-term rewards (Mage Tower)
- Raid tiers with class specific xmogs, some of the best in the game’s history
- Artifact acquisition story
- Artifacts are handily the coolest borrowed power system they’ve tried.
Not to mention World Quests that were quick to do, beautiful zones (Suramar and it’s whole storyline was fantastic)…I could keep going.
That said, it did have its own flaws. The legendary acquisition system was pretty atrocious, but to be fair, they didn’t “complete” classes the way SL legendaries feel for a lot of specs.

I think we’ve just had 2 horrible expansions that we miss Legion.
Legion took a lot away, adapted a lot of Diablo 3 gameplay garbage.
They tried to keep us in 1 spec only until BS was released.
They made pathfinder part 2 after the large backlash of pathfinder in WOD.
They forced us to use the command table again despite everyone saying they hated it from WOD.
Legendaries felt unrewarding and ugly looking.
Pvp became garbage.
PVE was great tho and that’s all I did and I loved it :).
Broken shore was really when they cut the crap and made it feel less grindy. Argus wasn’t too bad either.
