I’m at 50 mining in Legion (going back to complete some of my alts professions) and the only way I can level now is from rich nodes and seams. I haven’t seen any ranks of the nodes. I leveled this on another alt a couple of weeks ago and i mined over 1500 leystone and never saw rank 2 of the ore. It would be great if the drop rate could be increased to go with the new profession changes or the rate which it turns green would be higher. Leystone is gray now and felslate is green.
The intention is you have to hunt for Seams once you get to a higher skill. These are typically inside caves/mines so you can’t just fly about getting freebies and actually have to kill stuff and earn the points.
Note that once you are level 110+ you should also look out for Mining WQs which also give a skill point for completion and in a couple rare cases have you mining special ores that give skill points at higher skill levels themselves.
You can also mine the ore on Argus. If I remember right (been a bit since I have fully leveled legion mining) they are orange either until 100 or close to it.
Sorry was focused on the leveling part, but the higher ranks give blood of sargeras and that was specifically what I was looking for. Can’t remember if they drop on Argus or not, but I’ll give it a shot, thanks!
“Not”, I’m afraid. Gathering nodes on Argus have a chance of yielding Primal Sargerite, the Argus equivalent (but not interchangeable with Blood of Sargeras).
I remember having the same problem, back when Legion was “the current expansion”. One of my characters was an active minor, and mined a lot, but had trouble getting rank 3 in all the options.
I remember a cave in Highmountain that was my favorite mining spot. Every respawn (10 min?) it had 2 nodes. One node was in 1 of 3 places in the lower room, and one was in 1 of 3 places in the upper room. There were 2 different ores, and the pattern was random, but often these spawns were seams.
Even better, you can navigate the whole cave without being aggroed. There are lots of murlocs there – some players AOE-farmed them – without aggro.
The cave is just north of the Witchwood. From the Witchwood flight path, take the road north. When the road splits, go left to the mine, instead of east to the tunnel in the mountain.
That’s right, forgot about that and just an fyi…Empyrium is gray at 55.
I have problems with leveling my legion mining skills too. I am at 65-70 and it’s hard.
Actually Empyrium goes grey even sooner. My toon is at 53 and its grey. I came out to Argus thinking it being the last zone in the expansion, the nodes would be higher level and I could get some skill points, but sadly not the case.
I have found out that you need to get the last points from the mining world quests. When you get the ones where you mine nodes, each one gives a skill point up to 100.
Don’t forget you can get skill-ups from the world quests. Also, don’t forget Argus mining.
