This just in Blizzard adds Legion Legendaries to the list of stuff that will not work in Mage Tower.
Basically all old legendary weapons disabled, All Shadowlands, BFA systems disable, all legion systems disabled, older items disabled.
Ok so I can see disabeling SL and BFA systems but disable Legion systems in a Legion timewalking what the heck at least let people use their Legendaries they grinded for in expansion specific Legion content.
I mean you use to be able to put on old legendaries in Timewalking and have some fun with the old stuff you collected over the years but, no more because Fun Detected.

I think it’s just to keep a fair playing field. The MT is supposed to be a challenge mode thing. I don’t know how hard the new version is, but it’s not like casual tw dungeon runs. But some of those legendaries are quite strong and would trivialize fights even more. To the point they’d just be mandatory for the easiest wins.
And there might be issues with some of them which can’t relate to our classes anymore. Like one of the monk legends affects Strike of the Windlord, an ability long since removed.
Easier to avoid the entire mess. Disable everything. Then they can tune it fairly around just the base classes without worry of any outside advantages taking over.

You can have them commit time to balancing a 5 year old piece of content or you can women in game turned into fruit, you cant have both.
Blizzard has made their choice

Legion legendaries are already disabled, no longer even the best gear in Legion content. Artifact weapons have been nerfed multiple times and are now pretty much useless. The story has been removed as well. New players now never have any idea what any of it meant, that it was all intended to funnel players into the mage tower where they would kill the big bad.

i think its a good move like the poster said to make it fair.
but it might not be that hard.but not easy
Y’know what I find sort of funny (possibly in a not very humorous way) - they have disabled effects from Legion in a Legion event.
Logic, I’m not quite seeing it.

Its blizzard’s logic no one can understand that not even the prople in blizzard .
if they wanted easier then they should never have added it to the game. if your going to make a legion timewalking legion systems should be usable. No but’s or ifs.

Oh I agree. Like, if you are levelling through Legion you can get the artifacts but you dont get the benefits of the original artifacts back in Legion, so you are weaker than you were when you played it at the time. Likewise legendary items.
And of course, when the next expac comes around Covenants and soulbinds and conduits go dead so there is no advantage from that for anyone levelling through Shadowlands. Though why anyone would choose to do that Im not quite sure…
Could they not at least keep such things available during the player’s time in those expansions? (Although if you think about it, who is going to spend weeks and weeks grinding out Renown and getting conduits while levelling up to the new expansion? Nobody in their right mind I guess…)
I have said it before and i m saying now ,blizz if focused on make them getting anything as long as possible instead of making it fun .

They were permanently disabled, of course they don’t.
I take issue with this so bad. As a player of both WoW and FFXIV for years - I absolutely love that you can still go back and farm old relics in their entirety for all expansions and base game of FFXIV, feeling the epic journey of it all. WoW just loves that “you werent around, too bad so sad sorry”.

Time played metrics.
See even us nasty casuals have legendaries. We spam some legion for mogs, order hall completes, etc. Hell the essences for vendor legendaries comes real easy lol. I bought some only to use the currency.
This is good. I prefer the mage tower to be actually challenging and not completely trivialized.
The legiondaries were already all disabled in the MT when it was up in the PTR (edit: or I should say, they remained disabled). All this update does is disable the BFA cloak, and apparently the MOP cloak was also working. I haven’t heard whether valanyr or daggers were working.
IMO, Legiondaries should be allowed in the mage tower, simply because: you can actually go and buy the exact piece you want. That being said, no legendaries is fair. Not everyone’s gonna have stocked up wakening essences to buy legiondaries, and there’s plenty of people that didn’t get the mop cloak (self included).
You are assuming they balance this well. Content needing legendary the first time to run. Now not having legendary access .
they have messed this up before. BFA dungeons post squish . Freehold specifically as its the first dungeon unlock nooby noobs get.
A dungeon designed under the assumption we were 110, full talents and skills/casts.
Say hello to level 10 freehold post squish. Worst case not 1 in the 5 man has even 1 interrupt. “Fun” times.

Please don’t tell me what I’m assuming.
All that I assume is that the legendaries will make it easier. I think that’s a fair assumption.
That is what I’m against. I’d prefer the mage towers to actually be challenging.
Easier tuning and doesn’t make people feel like they need to go farm X legendary for those that missed out on Legion. I think it’s just more for a fairer playing field as someone mentioned. They are tuning it up and not taking you all the way down. So makes sense to me.

It was designed to need them first run around. now it will not have them.
Same devs who hosed freehold…worked this. Really…go make a level 10 and pull a freehold with 4 other level 10’s. See how good they are at this.

No it wasn’t. You could use any legendary to beat any challenges. The legendaries were either a bonus or completely overpowered, like the warlock ring and bear druid bracers.

Agreed but again it demonstrates blizz’s inability to design around future possibilities. Making systems so complex they have to completely ignore them in the future because their dumb implementation will cause issues with future players.
